I think 12 or so are really close right now.

There's one guy who's clearly the next pick, and with that being said I could see him falling to me with the 15th pick.

Pretty sure I know who you're talking about. I won't comment for fear of breaking the spirit of the rule of discussion of undrafteds.

Don't worry, nobody wants him.

(Given your drafting history so many funny thoughts are floating through my head.)

I can't wait to see who Phill picks.

I think there's a few acceptable picks in this spot. I think there are 6, maybe 7 second-tier guys who are all somewhat interchangeable but I'm pretty confident in saying that they are a clear cut above the third-tier talent, which is what I would've been stuck with at the 15th pick.

Anyway...my pick:

His in-ring skills are legendary, so I won't waste time talking about them.

I've always thought that Bret has been unfairly criticized for his mic skills. He might not be up there with the likes of the Rock or Stone Cold but he's had some tremendous promos both as a heel and face (which gives me some flexibility with my second-round pick in that I believe Bret could be 1-2 vs. a heel or face). One thing I always appreciate about his promos was that they had this honest, from-the-gut edge to them and you weren't sure if he was going totally off-script or not.

Some of my faves:

Ban for lack of dramatic reveal.

Bret was among those that I had valued as those who could go in this spot, so the pick is fine. At least with him you have one region where your company will never have trouble drawing.

Bret really honed his craft when it came to mic skills. He started out completely terrible then became above average. Never outstanding but passable at worst when he started main eventing.

Not setting the draft alight but its a really solid pick. Great in ring worker, proven main event talent that can draw, ive never read anything that makes me think he would backstage douche up the company etc.

If I would have drafted Bret I would used him the same way WCW did.

I don't think Bret became above average on the mic. He had a few decent promos, but the very next week he could be out there botching his lines or forgetting them and/or just generally putting the crowd to sleep and looking utterly lost out there.

Agreed. I mean he strikes me as though he was probably something of an ass, and certainly that he was his own biggest mark and took himself too seriously, but by wrestling industry standards that's a pretty tame personality indictment.

At least with that pick we now unlock the GOAT match.

I never understood how Bret Hart became a main eventer. He wasw the champ when I really can comprehend what I was watching, I was 8 or so. All my cousins and friends loved the guy, I never understood the appeal.

Sure, not many made it to the top of Vince's company without having an ego that was overly inflated. You have to expect some of that to come with the territory and hope as a booker you dont have to stab a talent to death in the shower.

I'm stuck on the phone so sorry for subpar writeup, I pick

John Cena

I agree that there are a lot of people who could reasonably go here and Cena probably gets least love of all of them but I think he deserves to go here. There's one thing that seperates him from the rest in my eyes: drawing power. Cena has been in the WWE for 10 years, main evented for 9 and has been the man for most of those. We are also allowed to project and I think we'll likely get at least another 5 years of Cena as one of if not the main draw in WWE. He has a lot talent on the mic where he is naturally awesome if he is allowed freedom and not forced to do stupid stuff by modern PG booking. He can also wrestle decently well as long as he isn't booked as superman Cena. If he was born 10 years earlier and peeked in the attitude era he most likely would have been legit awesome. This sounds a lot like what if but fact is that even being held back in modern environment he became huge and is insanely over, especially with the kids. Wrestling might be on a downswing but without Cena it would be a lot worse.

Cena was the pick I was talking about, he's clearly the 6th best person in this draft.

Cena >> Bret for this draft

At least one undrafted >>>>>> both of them though.
