STILL TAKING ENTRIES. THERE WILL HOPEFULLY BE A SECOND POOL, PLUS PEOPLE MAY STILL DROP OUT OF POOL 1.
Is everyone happy with last year's payments (as below) for pool 1?
Winner - $200
Runner Up - $25
Longest Run - $25
Shortest Run - $25
Most Eliminations - $25
Pool 2 can run with 10, 15 or 30. I'm thinking:
10 people - winner takes all
15 people - $100 for winner, $25 longest run, $25 most eliminations (these can be switched for runner up or shortest run)
30 people - same as pool 1
But am open to any suggestions.
Edit - the lists are now in the spreadsheet.
My issue with giving 200 to the winner is that "the winner" superlative is by far the most anticlimactic of all the others. That is to say, the 28 people who don't draw Bryan or Batista will know in a split second they've lost, which to me kinda kills what is supposed to be the underlying utility of this pool (which is the mystery of who your draw is and then getting to root for him for the entire duration he's in the match). Every other superlative (longest/shortest run, most eliminations, etc) is open to most -- if not all -- of the field. I understand the idea that it seems logical that "to the victor goes the spoils," but in this context I actually think getting the winner shouldn't be worth more than everything else because of how rudimentary it is compared to the other superlatives. Not to turn this into a shill but that was my philosophy behind the 3 wrestlers in the pool format. It's the only way to negate the idea that you need the rumble winner to make money and that drawing a jobber automatically means you lose.
My suggestion is to take the 5 superlatives you have listed and split them evenly. Maybe even add some funky superlatives for smaller payouts to add a sense of randomness to the pool (something like 20th out gets $20 or longest entrance to the ring lol). Stuff where truly anybody in the field has a somewhat equal chance of winning money on it.
Just my 2c.
