Got through this. Tag match was easily my favourite and I'd even go as far as saying The Revival are my favourite team in the world right now. Thought the rest of rest of the matches were all kind of average. Was very disappointed in the main event.

This is better than Roode's actual character. They should have just let him be himself and brought him in as a face. Guy can give great, impassioned face promos.

They put the kibosh on that Bobby Roode pumphandle finisher awfully quickly.

His three highest profile matches are against a very popular Tye Dillinger, a white-hot Bobby Roode and the incredible new thing Cedric Alexander. Why would you do this to a guy that's supposed to be a face? Not to mention the heelish ring attire and the general douchey mannerisms. Seriously, what the **** are they trying to accomplish with him? I'm unfamiliar with his CMLL/NJPW work, but he's supposedly really good, right?

I haven't seen a character such a slam-dunk lock to fail since The Ascension's first few matches on the main roster. It might even be worse than that.

He is supposed to be really good. My only hope for him is that they have decided to reboot him and now are just waiting for the right time to do it.

Dillinger and Roode are going to be out of this world over in Toronto. This will probably end with Roode turning on Dillinger to try to make him a heel, but it will be fun while it lasts.

The part where all the legitimate, established tag teams got pushed to the side in favor of two makeshift teams to make the final?
The fact that Enzo and Cass didn't even make the semifinals, causing them to miss a second straight Takeover special?
The fact that the tournament could have propelled Jordan/Gable to instant superstardom and they had Rhyno and Corbin make the finals instead?
The fact that it gave Balor and Joe a feather in their cap that they didn't need at all?
The fact that it started the ultra-boring Balor/Joe feud that main evented the next THREE Takeovers?

So your reply is that Enzo and Cass and American Alpha were hurt by the tournament last year? I mean they are only the most over tag teams on their respective shows.

That's debate-able. New Day are still some how huge and Heath Slater gets a bigger pop than AA on SD. AA were huge on NXT but they're off to a pretty slow start on the main roster.

What about the rest of his points though? They're all valid imo. The whole thing was used to push singles wrestlers that could have benefited elsewhere. By the end it felt like it was all for lol Balor wins. I mean they've already announced Roode/Dillinger and Itami/Kota as teams for this year. Hopefully they're just there for filler this time and the focus will actually be on tag teams.

Long term, no, they weren't hurt. But they were pushed aside for singles feuds for no good reason.

Actual teams could have used the rub of "first ever Dusty Classic winner". Hell, you could have had Enzo and Cass win and then have them return to NXT temporarily to defend their tournament win. Then whoever beats them would have that rub.

The whole tournament last year was just nonsense booking that really annoyed me.
