Who or what do you mark for? Biggest mark out moments? Why?

I've pimped this match out more than a few times over the years itf. I remember watching this as a 16 year old and it was amazing to me. It still amazes me. The crowd, the perfect heel/face dynamic, and people actually cheering the face, the angle. A month after WM 13 was IYH: A Cold Day in Hell. Semi-main event was Austin vs Bret in a normal match. Bunch of interference in the match leads to some wacky finish (idr tbh). Next night kicks off with Vince announcing Austin vs Bret in a streetfight followed by Austin coming out...

The match resulted in a broken foot for Bret (the reason why he was in a wheelchair for HBK's infamous wheelchair kick on him) as well as a broken wrist (@ 7:23) from the chair shot.

I mark out when I hear the following music but am also a huge mark for the wrestler:

Just a few things but I have much more.

What/Who do you mark out for?

For some reason as a young kid I always marked out for guys people todays audience can't even remember apart from Hogan and Big Show (At the start I loved him). I thought the Big Show chokeslam through the ring was awesome. I was only like 13 tho.

Others...hmmm:

Right To Censor
Rene Dupree
Carlito (For a while until he started annoying me)
X-Pac

I watched the Attitude era dvd and I remembered the X-Pac and Kane tag team. I think I was only about 8-10. It was around that time in school I found out it wasn't "real" as we define real. So, yeah, not the best bunch ever, but I won't let anyone say anything bad about Waltman because he was my first real favourite after Hogan. >_>

This part reminded me of something. I always loved the big guys and especially people coming in to collect a bounty. Vader actually started in WCW storyline wise because of a bounty on Sting. Marked when, in 91, Sting kept getting sent packages at ringside. One had Cactus come out and attack him. Then at CoC it was to be revealed who was sending them to him. Luger came out of something and attacked Sting resulting in Sting losing the US belt to Rick Rude later on.

Also, Yoshi Kwan (who the **** remembers him?) coming in on Vader's behalf to take Cactus Jack out in 93. I was shocked when Cactus pretty much squashed him in 4 or 5 minutes at Fall Brawl 93.

I always marked out for martial art gimmicks. Muta, Kwan, Kama. There was a guy in GWF when it was ESPN in the early 90's that was always announced as a "53rd degree black belt" that I loved (I want to say it was John Tatum but not sure).

Biggest mark out moment for me came in the midst of a horribly misexicuted story line.

One of my biggest markout moments was for sure HBK kicking out of Taker's tombstone at WM 25. I hadn't seen the match vs Edge the year before and was unaware anybody had ever kicked out. My jaw was on the floor like Taker's was laying on Shawn's hip.

I remember the first time I saw Steve Austin stroll out in WCW. I was thinking "wow, they really are treating this guy like a big deal, already being in a title picture" (one thing WCW generally did well was to treat and book the US and TV title as something sacred and meaningful) and then I saw his offense and instantly thought of him as a star. Eventually he ends up as the Ringmaster in WWF, so I figured it was another instance of WWF screwing up somebody who was really good in WCW.

I was very surprised then that his run as Stone Cold from the Austin 3:16 means I just whipped your ass! to helping Foley win the title is one of the best singles runs I can recall. The feuds with Bret, Owen, the Rock, and of course Mr. McMahon provided classic moment after classic moment. I would watch Nitro and then flip to Raw every few minutes to see if Stone Cold was going to be on. Outside of that, I prefer his ECW and WCW stuff to most of the rest of his WWF run. He just became too cheesy and corny, and was booked poorly at times.

I thought the hug 30 seconds later was contrived, although both guys have since said it wasn't planned and was a very real moment for both. But the handshake ... as a huge Bret mark growing up, and a guy who has tons of respect for HBK (at least by this point), yeah, I was pretty marky for the whole segment.

When HBK did that fake Bret Hart return in 2005. When Bret's music first hit, I lept from my couch and started yelling, "BRET HART BRET HART!"

Great moment.

I didn't see it until a couple years later. Had I seen it live, it would have got me. It was superb, though.

I think everybody here will agree with this one:

Every single thing about this match is mark worthy

Dream match:

You know something's special if there's a "this is awesome" chant before the match even starts:

Seth GOATing:

Turn around is fair play aka Seth gets got:

More karma for The Shield:

Bray gets the unlikely victory over The Shield after surviving the Hulk's flurry and using Harper as a sacrificial lamb:

This is nearly the perfect match. I give it the ****7/8 rating. Easily one of my favorite matches of all time.

I haven't truly marked out in a while, but Brock's return in 2012 (I hadn't heard like others I guess), I absolutely reverted to being a kid again. The same reaction when I saw Shawn Michaels hit the final SCM against Bret in the ironman match for the title.

*also WM30 intro with Hogan, Austin, The Rock. That one got me three times. Afterwards I laughed at myself realizing what had happened.

Recently, the shoot, Punk's entrance at MITB 2011 and Rock's return were all pretty crazy mark out moments.

Biggest mark outs of all time were during the Era of Orton though. Pretty much every PPV defence Orton had during 2007-8. We would start drinking heavily before the PPV even started so by the end were pretty much ****faced every time, and would be going nuts yelling 'hey, nothing you can say' etc etc. Good times.

I'm a mark for Rick Rude's run in WCW. He put on a clinic in terms of how to get heel heat while also staying interesting. He couldn't even talk before that Superbrawl II PPV match against Steamboat because the crowd was so loud and persistent with the booing. He is absolutely somebody that was awesome on a week to week basis, whether it was somehow making a jobber match interesting or a promo or a big match. The feuds with Sting, Dustin Rhodes, and Steamboat were all awesome.
