I'll just ask this question before I vote even though I'll still take the match.

I just watched Taker/HBK. I think I had seen it before but it came during a dark period for me, etc. Were the multiple kickouts of finishers a big thing like it is today as it was then? It's obviously a pretty amazing match but I think the end was a bit silly by today's standards. However, if this was truly shocking back then, then I can see why it holds up even more as an all-timer.

That match featured maybe the first time that Taker did the full arms crossing, tongue out thing and suffered a kickout.

Obviously that became literally the entirety of his WM repertoire after that, which I do think actually retroactively hurts that match a bit.

Not to really denigrate the match because it's obviously elite, but I just think it hurts a match's ability to hold up over time when the same stuff gets done to death afterward and makes it so that <whatever> no longer comes off as unique.

So basically, **** the company for turning finisher kickouts into such a thing. Jackasses.

Something I didn't realize for years after the HBK match is that the same kickout happened with Edge (of all people, seriously?) the year before.
