Fantasy Wrestling - discussion and interest thread
One of our newest and most popular residents (TradeOC) brought up an idea in the fantasy football thread that I had thinking about for a while - a fantasy wrestling league. The basic premise would be to draft a team of wrestlers (probably WWE only since scoring would get awkward otherwise), and they would get awarded points for appearances, winning matches, winning titles etc.
The purpose of this thread is mainly to get the rules ironed out and to get an idea of how many people are interested. Here are the posts from the other thread with suggestions:

If loses a match then minus points. PPV matches won or lost will be worth more +/-. Any other Point ideas? I mean since we are all here watching each night we should pick wrestlers and tally up points and winner gets something cool and loser and to do something....It could start now until Wrestlemania.

So three people automatically win the draft? I think it would work fine. I think teams should be bigger than 5/6 each though.

Points for Championships with maybe extra points for each month they hold they title. I think total points would work better than head to head.
Edit - Actually extra points for title defences would be better than giving points for each month the title is held.

Teams should be like 10-12 wrestlers b.c obviously we will all score big points on the Big time wrestlers but what will really count is those later round wrestlers we pick like the for example: Tyson Kidd or Jinder Mahal etc....will be the game changers.....Ill start putting together some **** together. I say we start soon to work out the kinks so when we do it again after Mania next year. We will all be used to the format. I say we start the draft and Summerslam will start the Season.....

Same with Randy Orton lol....We can also have Suspension Penalties, If you have a Wrestler on your team that gets suspended (Steriods, Drug use) you lose MAJOR Points (Orton, Mysterio etc....) maybe loss of a draft pick in the next months draft? Since Suspensions rarely happen but they do and the person should be hit hard with penalties.

Post in here if you are interested and give suggestions on what you think the rules/scoring system should be. I will post my own ideas for a scoring system later when I've given it more thought; I just wanted to get this thread up so others can give their opinions.
(TradeOC I'm happy for you to run this if you want, just thought I'd throw the thread out there).

It hasn't been decided how it will work yet, that's what this thread is for. It won't involve much time; after the initial draft that would pretty much be it. I guess people could do trades if they wanted.

Re: Fantasy Wrestling - discussion and interest thread
I'm iffy and may be in depending on the details.
It's an interesting idea and I had thought about it a number of times before, but I couldn't get past the whole "guy who owns Cena wins" problem in figuring out a format.

Well to be fair if we're counting dirty wins the same as clean wins (which we should) Cena doesn't win all that more than the other top faces. We could always do the draft ABBBABAB instead of ABBAABBAABB to make it more fair. FWIW I'm not even sure Cena is that far ahead of the second pick, and I think a strong case could be made for him going 1st.

Re: Fantasy Wrestling - discussion and interest thread
This can work, you just need to round out the scoring system a bit. Obviously the guy with Cena/Punk/etc. will have the best one, but if you make things work decently it can be balanced. Some people run one of these at rotoguru.com; their scoring system is:
http://rotoguru1.com/cgi-bin/read.pl...ast=1342471555
Edit to add: if you want to see what the wrestler scores as a result of this are, it'd look like:

Also fwiw, using the scoring system above, Cena and Punk aren't even in the top two.

Re: Fantasy Wrestling - discussion and interest thread
You could tweak it a bit, but if you do things like elevating WWE title much over the WHC title, then yeah, you pretty much do run into the problem of WWE champ = ldo #1 pick. One of the good things about their system is that it avoids exactly that problem for the most part.
And regarding the PPV differences ... keep in mind that someone has to hand-score this thing, and the more standard the better.

Re: Fantasy Wrestling - discussion and interest thread
Using their system, the WHC has way more points than second place - who hasn't even held a title this year unless I'm forgetting something, and Punk isn't that far ahead of the people underneath him. I would probably downgrade the WHC rather than upgrade the WWE title. Plus you don't know how long the current WWE champ will hold the title; he could lose it the week after the draft.
I don't mind doing the scoring and don't mind it being complicated. I don't think a win at Bragging Rights or Capitol Punishment should be worth the same as a win at Wrestlemania, or that an NXT win should be equal to a RAW win.
Also, the system I am working on (will I will propose later on or maybe tomorrow) will probably actually be less complicated than their system. I don't plan on giving extra points for gimmick matches or giving points for promos/backstage segments (which would require more than just looking up results).

Re: Fantasy Wrestling - discussion and interest thread
I think Sheamus WON the title, which they award a bunch of points for (more than defending it). And wasn't Cena out for a few weeks? (Timeline on this was like right after WM to now).
I mean, I'd probably be in regardless, because y'all need someone to beat, I'm just making observations here.

Re: Fantasy Wrestling - discussion and interest thread
Let's try to get everything organized soon so we can do the draft and have our teams before SummerSlam.
