Damn you people, JR and Heenan called some matches together and weren't very good as a unit. I knew that was a possible pitfall of that question, but I refused to give that answer.

one of the things I've truly appreciated from LKJs threads (as someone that got into wrestling in 98) is just how good Monsoon/Heenan were. They were able to have incredible banter while calling the match AND putting people over in a way I haven't really seen elsewhere.

If this were what my dream match would be, I think I'd pick Rock vs. HBK. Despite always thinking of HBK as overrated, I think this would be incredible. 2nd would be HBK vs. Bryan.

Like, a person can point to the lack of quality in the Heenan/Ross team and claim that they didn't have time to build the chemistry, but I think even given ample time to develop said chemistry they would have to be a dog to be better than Heenan/Monsoon or Ventura/Monsoon. Of course Ross had a greater technical proficiency as a play-by-play guy than Gorilla did, by miles. Doesn't matter. This **** is art, not plug-and-play science.
