Re: Best Federation Write-Ups and Weekly Shows

Deadly Games: Episode #3 of Texas Championship Wrestling

The show begins with Cole and Tenay talking about the tournament being held tonight.

Michael Cole: Tonight TCW will crown a new heavyweight champion, and if I had to put my money on someone, it would have to be The Big Show? What do you think Tenay?

Mike Tenay: Big Show has to be the favorite, he has the boss right in his back pocket. I wouldn't sleep on CM Punk though, we've seen him over come the odds time and time again.

Michael Cole: Well I guess we're going to find out about Punk right now.

Elite Eight Championship Match: CM Punk vs. Batista with (Gorgeous George and Randy Orton)

Batista comes out first with the other two members of Evolution on his side. Cole mentions that Gorgeous George will be facing Goldberg later tonight. Batista gets heavy heel heat as he makes his way to the ring. Tenay mentions that Goldberg was able to overcome the numbers game early in the week but he questions if Punk will be able to do the same. "Cult of Personality" hits and the crowd pops. Punk makes his way to the ring with a determined look on his face. Punk sprints into the ring and just as quickly as the ref signals for the bell to be rung, Punk locks Batista up in a roll-up for a quick three count. Punk then sprints to the locker room as Evolution is left in the ring fuming.

Mike Tenay: Wow, if that's a sign of things to come, this is going to be a bad night for Evolution.

Michael Cole: That's one way to look at it, the way I look at it is that Evolution is more angry than they've ever been. Goldberg better watch out. But ow it's time to watch the next TCW champion!

Elite Eight Championship Match: The Big Show (with Stephanie McMahon) vs. Kofi Kingston

Big Show and Stephanie come out first to a chorus of boos. Stephanie reaches for a microphone as both enter the ring.

Stephanie McMahon: Ladies and Gentleman, you are looking at the next TCW champion. Here is the worlds most dominate wrestler, who will be able to beat the 7 feet tall 500lbs Giant? He is a man that TCW can be proud to represent them. I can't wait to hand him the championship at the end of the night.

Kofi runs down to the ring and is quickly met by a chop to the chest. Rather than go for the pin, Big Show lights a cigaret and starts smoking. Kofi makes his way to his feet and Big Show blows smoke in his face. Dazed from the smoke, Big Show hits Kofi with the WMD and pins him with one foot on his chest.

After the match ends Cole announces that Jen Eric is with Evolution in the back.

Jen Eric: Gorgeous George, you are the last member of Evolution left in the Deadly Games tournament. Do you think you will be able to beat Goldberg tonight?

Gorgeous George: Just like Randy was cheated earlier in the week, Batista was cheated tonight. Batista clearly didn't hear the bell ring, and that little worm Punk capitalized it. Well Goldberg you're not going to be as lucky as Punk was tonight. I'm ready for you. And tonight I'm going to show you what happens when you mess with Evolution.

Elite Eight Championship Match: Gorgeous George (with Randy Orton and Batista) vs. Goldberg

Evolution make their way to the ring not looking as confident as they usually do. George sprays the ring with perfume before he enters. He then sprays the ref. As Evolution's music ends the Goldberg chants begin. Tenay notes that Goldberg is quickly becoming one of the most popular wrestlers in TCW. Cole states that Goldberg may be popular, but Gorgeous George is the greatest wrestler of all time. Goldberg's music hits and George flinches. Goldberg makes his way to the ring surrounded by 6 cops. As Goldberg enters the ring George quickly runs out of the ring. The ref yells that for the match to start George must be in the ring. Finally George enters the ring and the bell is rung. Goldberg goes for a quick spear but misses and hits his shoulder on the ring post. George like a scavenger pounces on his injured opponent. George throws everything he has at Goldberg, and goes for a pin, but Goldberg throws George off of him at two and pops up to his feet. He then hits George with a spear, and sets him up for the jackhammer. Right when he gets him up Batista and Orton both enter the ring and hit Goldberg. George then gets up and the three men continue to pound on Goldberg. Orton leaves the ring and returns with a chair which he hits Goldberg repeatedly with until the chair breaks. After turning Goldberg into a bloody mess, Evolution leaves the ring. Shane McMahon runs down to the ring to check out Goldberg.

Shane McMahon: Goldberg has won the match as of a result of disqualification, unfortunately he will be unable to compete in the rest of the tournament. The winner of the Ultimate Warrior/Kurt Angle match will get a bye into the championship match.

Goldberg is taken out on a stretcher, as Michael Cole states that he thinks Goldberg's and Evolution's problem with each other may have just gotten a lot bigger.

Elite Eight Championship Match: Kurt Angle vs. The Ultimate Warrior

Both men come out to huge crowd reactions. As the bell is sounded a "Let's Go Angle, Let's Go Warrior" chant is started. Angle gets the best of Warrior in the beginning keeping him mostly on the mat. Kurt locks Warrior in several different holds but Warrior continues to counter out of them. Tenay states that he's never seen Warrior tap out before, and Cole responds by saying that Warrior's never faced a wrestler like Angle. Warrior gets back up to his feet and goes to hit Angle with a close-line which Angle dunks counters into an Angle Slam. Angle goes for the pin, but Warrior is able to kick out at 2, and he starts to get pumped. Warrior grabs the ropes and starts shaking them. He then hits Angle with a series of close-lines. Warrior then goes for another close-line that misses Angle but hits the ref knocking him out. Warrior then grabs Angle and hits him with a power slam, he set's Angle up for the Big Splash when...

The lights go out and this erie music begins playing. Flames appear at the top of the stage and Paul Bearer is seen with a giant of a man at his side. The giant is dressed in all red and wearing a mask that completely covers his face.

Michael Cole: Oh my God. This... this most be what Bearer was talking about. But... but who is that monster beside him???

Bearer and the monster enter the ring and Warrior is frozen. Warrior breaks out of his catatonic state and swings at the monster but his punch does no damage. The monster in red then hits Warrior with an uppercut knocking him out of the ring. The monster then chokeslams Warrior through the announce table on the outside. The man in red then picks up Warrior and throws him back into the ring. He then picks Warrior up once again and hits him with a tombstone piledriver in the center of the ring. Bearer and the monster exit the ring as Angle and the ref both start to come to. Angle crawls over to Warrior's lifeless body and places one arm across his chest. The ref slowly counts to three and Angle gets the victory.

Mike Tenay: I have never seen anything like that in my entire career. Who was that man with Paul Bearer?

Michael Cole: I'm not sure Mike but it looks like Warrior is seriously hurt. Lost in all this craziness is the fact that Kurt Angle has advanced to the finals in the Deadly Games tournament.

Mike Tenay: That's true, but who will he be facing?

Semi-Final Championship Match: The Big Show (with Stephanie McMahon) vs. CM Punk

Big Show starts the match dominating Punk. Cole states that Punk has no chance, Big Show is just too much for him. Big Show hits Punk with the Show Stopper, and goes for the pin with one foot on Punk. Punk kicks out at two, and Tenay mentions that Big Show might have been able to win it there if he didn't go for a lazy cover. Stephanie angry that it wasn't a three count starts shouting at the ref. The ref then throws Stephanie out. Punk stumbles back up to his feet and Big Show goes for the WMD, but misses and hits the ref. Punk then capitalizes and hits Big Show with a kick to the back of his head. Punk then connects with an elbow drop from the top of the rope. Punk then pins Big Show and Shane runs down to make the count. 1-2... instead of counting 3, Shane flips Punk off.

Mike Tenay: What's Shane doing? Why would he do that to Punk? That should have been three!

Punk chases Shane out the ring. When Punk turns around he is met by a WMD by the Big Show. Shane quickly runs into the ring and does a super fast count allowing the Big Show to beat CM Punk. Standing over Punk Shane grabs a microphone.

Shane McMahon: Sorry Punk, I guess you aren't the best in the world. And as for this championship match, I'll be the special guest referee, come out Steph. I want you to be here for when we crown our new champion.

Stephanie enters the ring and is met by a hug from Shane.

Stephanie McMahon: Come out Kurt, it's time for your championship match.

Angle comes out to a huge pop. He makes his way down to the ring but is clearly still hurt from his earlier match with Warrior.

Mike Tenay: They screwed CM Punk. Shane and Stephanie had this planned out the whole time. Now they're going to screw Angle too.

Shane rings the bell and turns his back as Big Show hits Angle with a low-blow. Big Show then chokes Angle, and Shane does nothing. Big Show then throws Angle to the outside and the two men begin to fight out there. Angle counters a hit from Big Show and swings him into the ring post, much to the crowds pleasing. Both men enter the ring Big Show hits Angle with the WMD. Big Show goes for the pin but Angle is able to kick out a two. Big Show then signals for the Show Stopper. He picks Kurt up, but Angle is able to counter it into an ankle-lock. Shane quickly calls for the bell to be rung.

Mike Tenay: What.. what just happened? Big Show never taped, why did Shane call for the bell.

Shane McMahon: Ladies and Gentleman, may I present to you your new corporate champion, the Olympic Gold Medalist, Kurt Angle! You didn't really think Stephanie and I would let our title be around the waist of a giant monkey like The Big Show did you? No we have to have a classy, professional, and hero like Kurt Angle be the face of out company.

Kurt Angle: I told all you people that I would do whatever it takes to become champion and that's what I did. I made a deal with Shane and Stephanie, and now TCW has a champion they can be proud of. The corporation has a champion it can be proud of. Your Olympic hero, Kurt Angle! Oh it's true, it's damn true!

The show ends with Angle standing in the middle of the ring with Stephanie and Shane each beside him raising his arm.

Haha I guess you weren't a fan of the attitude era, because that show is a complete rip-off of the 98 Surviver Series.

Re: Best Federation Write-Ups and Weekly Shows

Actually noticed that. I don't think Attitude Era (at least late 98/all of 99) stuff holds up anymore. As soon as they had Undertaker try to murder Austin then I think the WWF got a little stupid. 2000 WWF was insanely good, however.

Re: Best Federation Write-Ups and Weekly Shows

Wrestling was on the big three networks in the 1950s and for the WWF in the 80s (and a few shows in the early 90s and mid 2000s before a quick canning by NBC). Does this take place in the 1950s? If so I don't think your PPVs will sell all that well. Otherwise, I don't think you can assume 1980s WWF popularity right off the bat (especially with 15 competing promotions).

Honestly never thought about what timeframe we are in. Its an alternate universe. We can assume there are 16 networks and we are all on network tv

Part of me wishes I had done a brief six month cliffs note of my company's starting history so that I didn't have to deal with all of this crowning of championships and could just start with existing champs, but I've started in so it is what it is. I'll have another ep up soon.

Yeah, I should really get my final write up done. One of these days I'll outline how I'd plan on using The Rock to at least try and take over the U.S. market.

Re: Best Federation Write-Ups and Weekly Shows

Episode Four: LWA Overdrive

Tony Schiavone and Bob Caudle welcome us to the broadcast. They say that we’ll start the action soon, but that first they are going to send it to Jack Tunney, who is going to speak about Antonio Inoki’s actions from last week.

Tunney: “Due to the unconscionable, deliberate, and vicious attack by Antonio Inoki on an official last week, he is hereby suspended without pay for six months. Being an LWA official is a dangerous job, and at times an official might get accidentally hit by getting caught in the line of fire, but intentionally striking an official is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in this company. Inoki’s suspension will be served in full, and if he ever commits an atrocious act of this kind again, then the next punishment will be even more severe. Thank you.”

Schiavone and Caudle marvel at how stiff of a suspension it was, but say that they can’t really disagree with it and that Tunney needed to set a tough precedent on that kind of behavior.

North American Title Tournament Quarterfinals: Killer Kowalski (w/ The Grand Wizard) v. Chief Jay Strongbow
So far, Kowalski has looked like an invincible monster. Strongbow starts this match quickly, however, aggressively taking the offense to Kowalski. Schiavone excitedly notes that Kowalski is obviously caught off-guard by this onslaught, and it looks like there may be an upset in the making. The match reverses, however, when Strongbow attempts a cross-body block and is caught in mid-air by Kowalski, who absolutely plants him with a quick powerslam. Kowalski looks very angered by the start of the match, and slams Strongbow into the turnbuckle, then striking him repeatedly. He sends him back to the mat with a big boot off of an Irish whip, and then goes down to the mat and puts a chokehold on Strongbow. The referee applies the five-count, and Kowalski won’t let go. At five, the referee attempts to actively pull him off to no avail. He then calls for the bell. Schiavone sends it to Howard Finkel for the call. “The winner of this bout – as a result of a disqualification – Chief Jay Strongbow!” An infuriated Kowalski starts to go after the referee, but The Grand Wizard (obviously knowing of the stiff punishment that Inoki just received and not wanting to lose his meal ticket) manages to hold him off.
Winner: Chief Jay Strongbow via DQ

Update on Friday Night Fracas and the Best-of-7 World Championship Series: Hosted by Gene Okerlund
Gene Okerlund first gives the rundown on the current card for the inaugural Friday Night Fracas. He further announces that it will be held in the United Center in Chicago, IL. The card is as follows, with more matches to be added:
Match #1 of the Best-of-7 Championship Series: Ric Flair v. Bob Backlund
North American Title Tournament Semifinals: Chief Jay Strongbow v. The winner of the Jerry Lawler/Peter Maivia match to be held later in this episode
North American Title Tournament Semifinals: Winner of Bam Bam Bigelow/Ron Simmons v. Winner of Pedro Morales/Pat Tanaka (both of which will be held on next week’s episode of Overdrive)
Tag Team Titles: The Steiner Brothers v. The Eliminators (w/ Sunny)

Okerlund then proceeds to give us the overall schedule of the Best-of-7 World Championship Series. It is as follows:
Match #1: United Center, Chicago, IL
Match #2: Charlotte Coliseum, Charlotte, NC
Match #3: Met Center, Bloomington, MN
Match #4: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Match #5 (if necessary): Gentry Complex, Nashville, TN
Match #6 (if necessary): Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, ON
Match #7 (if necessary): United Center, Chicago, IL

Each of the first six matches would be scheduled for a 30-minute time limit. Match #7, if necessary, would be a 60-minute time limit match.

“For Update, I’m Gene Okerlund.”

Bob Backlund v. Stan Enhancement
Ric Flair comes out and joins the commentary booth to a mixed reaction. Backlund gets a great pop from the crowd. He puts on a wrestling clinic against Enhancement, dominating the whole way. Schiavone says, “Admit it, Nature Boy. This guy is good.” Flair readily concedes that Backlund is an impressive wrestler, and that on the right night he might be quite a handful…but over the course of a seven-match series, he doesn’t have a chance. Backlund closes out the match with a running atomic drop he calls the Atomic Spinecrusher and a pinfall. Ric Flair stands up and sarcastically applauds as Backlund’s hand is raised.
Winner: Bob Backlund

Paul Orndorff v. Garry “Whore Wits” Goldman
Orndorff comes out to a nice ovation, as Schiavone and Caudle laud him for stepping in and doing the right thing to stop Antonio Inoki last week amidst that ugly incident with the official. The Grand Wizard gives a PIP promo in which he tells Orndorff that he’d “better know his place and be careful about sticking his nose in the business of others, or else…” Orndorff closes out the squash match with a german suplex and a pin.
Winner: Paul Orndorff

Hype Vignette: Ric Flair
A montage is shown of Ric Flair, styling and profiling, traveling the world in leer jets and limousines and having a cadre of smoking hot women at his side in every town. He ends the vignette with a promo telling everyone that Bob Backlund goes out and says that he represents the every man, because it’s all he can ever be himself. He vows to bring home the championship belt and make it a title of glitz and glamour, something that Backlund could never do.

North American Title Tournament Quarterfinal: Jerry “The King” Lawler v. Peter Maivia
While Peter Maivia gets a decent chunk of offense in, the clear star here is Lawler, who stands out in the match that culminates in him hitting a piledriver to put Maivia out for the count. The announcers comment on how incredibly dangerous that move is, but give credit to Lawler for a very impressive display of wrestling. Lawler will meet Chief Jay Strongbow in the semifinals of the tournament at Friday Night Fracas.
Winner: Jerry “The King” Lawler

Next week, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair will be in action. Bam Bam Bigelow will take on Ron Simmons in one semifinal of the North American Title Tournament, and the debuting Pat Tanaka will take on Pedro Morales in the other. We will also set the final card in the last show before the Fracas. All of that and more on the next episode.
