The real main event:

vs

Also on the card:

John Cena and Dolph Ziggler vs. Kane and King Barrettmatch
Chris Jericho vs. Neville
Nikki Bella (c) vs. Paige vs. Tamina
The Lucha Dragons (Kalisto and Sin Cara) vs. The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods)
Cesaro vs. Diego

It goes live and the first thing in shot is a Kane sign.

Goddammit Japan.

Edit: I guess I'm forever alone for this. Great opening match between Jericho and Neville. The best Jericho match I've seen in a very long time.

lol Kofi chants.

Well there was no New Day interference and the match lasted about 3 mins but I'm satisfied.

Surprised Balor/Owens isn't main eventing, I guess the Cena tag match or Cesaro/Diego will main event. :/

Great match. Best match I've seen Balor have in the WWE but not quite as good as Owens/Cena.

Never thought I would say this but Cole has been excellent tonight. I saw someone tweet this and it's spot on.

Quote:
By the way, this show is proving what we already knew - the Vince Jr/Kevin Dunn presentation of wrestling is antiquated.
edit: Young Bucks tweeted "we should do a run in."

edit2: Looks like Cesaro/Diego is the main event because there's no chance they would bump that match.

edit3: Hahaha I love how as soon as the tag match starts and Kane comes out that Cole goes back to being terrible.

Is it likely that Cesaro/Deigo was a dark match? Now I need to stay awake through this tag match to find out.

I'm guessing it was a dark match. Ending on this tag match just seems off. Commentators have gone back to their Raw style as well and it just feels flat after following a great singles match. WWE had to do something wrong tonight I guess.

HHH spoiled the Balor/Owens finish on Twitter before it actually happened which is unfortunate.

Spoiled as in this is not "live" or spoiled as in he may have had had some insider knowledge?

This is live. HHH probably booked the finish.

It's definitely worth watching so I'll post in spoilers. Might be recency bias but I think it's the best WWE branded non-WM show of the year.

Spoiler:
Recap:

Jericho over Neville in a great match. Both wrestlers had their full arsenal out and the match really had it all. Wrestling moves, high flying, counters and submissions were in all abundance. Even though Jericho has slowed down, he still kept up with Neville in a believable way. Neville went for the Red Arrow 3 times during the match and Jericho found a way to counter each time including an awesome finish where he reversed it into the Walls. The crowd was all over this match with heavy Y2J chants that ended with them cheering for both guys.

Nikki Bella beat Paige and Tamina in a 3 way dance. It wasn't great but was definitely way above common Diva match standards. Paige needs to quiet down when she's calling spots. The only thing that really stood out was watching the Japanese referee trying not to look at Paige's ass during her entrance.

Brock squashed Kofi in 3 minutes. Kofi got minimal offense in early but Brock no sold it and then went on to murder him. During the squash the crowd started a very loud Kofi chant that didn't last long but was funny. After the match as Brock was leaving he looked back in the ring and then murdered Kofi a little more which brought out the rest of New Day or were then also murdered. Crowd absolutely love Brock.

Finn Balor beat Kevin Owens to win the NXT championship. This was awesome from start to finish. Crowd loved both guys during their entrances. Owens plays the heel to perfection. Before the match, two women dressed in tradition Japanese attire give both wrestlers flowers which is custom before a title match(even though they didn't give them to the women earlier). Owens immediately throws his flowers to floor and draws mega heat. The match was booked perfectly. Owens dominates the start. He does a spot where he sits Finn down, runs at the ropes like he's going to do a impact move but just does a headlock instead then shouts out "you impressed? I don't care anyway, I hate this country." Owens then starts using Cena's moves and goes for the AA but Finn counters and starts to get in some offense. Finn nails the Bloody Sunday(his NJPW finisher) and Cole calls it by name and sells it as a big deal which was awesome. Owens kicks out. Finn gets in his usual end game offense in and hits his finisher off the top but Owens kicks out again. Owens then hits a senton bomb off the turn buckle and goes for an senton splash but Finn gets the knees up and hits another Bloody Sunday. Owens kicks out again, crowd is going bananas. Owens gets up first and is in full blown heel mode yelling "you can't beat me." He goes for the pop up powerbomb but Finn avoids it, hits a bunch of dropkicks and then his NXT finisher and wins. Finn tries to shake Owens hand but he shrugs him off. Streamers rain down and Fujinami comes out to congratulate Finn. It was awesome. Cole was excellent on commentary the whole night to the point where I can't really hate the guy anymore because it's clear he can be a great wrestling commentator.

Then we had Cena/Ziggler vs Kane/BNB in a completely missable tag match. It was funny because as soon as this match Cole and Saxton went right back into Raw mode and started being terrible.

edit: The Cesaro vs Diego match was a dark match and it was 25 mins long. New Day vs Lucha Dragons was also 25 mins. :O

Shocking absolutely no one, Owens vs. Balor was great. Owens is a fantastic heel.

Pleasantly surprised by Jericho vs. Neville. Easily Jericho's best match in years.

I suggest watching those two matches and watch Lesnar go HAM on Kofi/New Day which while it went as expected was still entertaining.

Looks like they're running with a Neville "almost-winning but actually losing all meaningful matches" gimmick

Or maybe they were giving the live crowd who have been fans of Jericho for 20 years something to make them happy

I like how Neville has been booked. I think the "just called up from minors" to "can sort of hang with the big boys but hasn't quite put it all together yet" and finally "figured it out, is now serious contender" progression is a great and believable one in kayfabe. It also makes moon pushes like Owens' that much more special, because then the only logical explanation for Owens' success is that he's simply THAT good.

The match order was weird. I'd have gone with NXT Championship as the main, and Bork second or third last. Random tag match as the main is hilarious.
