I'll give this show a shot. I at least want to see Charlotte-Sasha. On paper that card has some good in-ring potential, so it really comes down to whether or not I can actually manage to get invested in any of the matches. Have pretty much turned off Raw entirely since the promo when Seth introduced "Sparklecrotch" into the WWE lexicon, but maybe the PPV will be better.

I remember back in the day I would genuinely mark out whenever the spotfest bloodbath hell in a cell match was announced

Now it's a gimmick ppv reduced to a boring gimmick match and now a women's title match is gonna be in one

think ill be skipping this one and doing a good snf game instead. the builds to all of these matches have been really bad. ko/rollins has no heat and is mostly about the list of jericho? roman/rusev is about how the amazing roman has done his civic duty in stopping a wedding ceremony by a dirty foreigner, and shasha/charlotte is all about how excited and happy they are about being in hiac because the company they work for is so progressive to let them do it (despite being the ones holding them down for a decade in the first place).

raws booking is trash and i dont really dig the whole barry horowitzing thing going on in the main event


hopefully the matches are good tho and give me a reason to go back and watch them on the network tomorrow or something. gonna be the first ppv ive fully missed in a long time

Quite simply this should not be an annual PPV. HIAC makes sense when there's a major feud looking get blown off--there is no match that tops it in terms of kayfabe seriousness. When it's an annual event, HIAC seems forced. Much better that a HIAC gets sprung on us as a surprise (like Taker/HHH at WM a few years back).

hiac should be used infrequently as a final showdown between two bitter rivals.

the part that bothers me the most this year is that the sasha/charlotte feud SHOULD be absolutely perfect for it.

Feud up to WM -> pulled out of the ring by Ric as Becky taps -> return in a couple months to challenge again -> get screwed over by dana -> try again and win after getting dana tossed -> match as summerslam where she loses after getting injured in the match -> miss time -> return and lost a triple threat match -> try again and beat her again in a back and forth match -> now

It's the perfect recipe for hiac - which requires long feuds where both look strong throughout which is a rarity on both fronts in current wwe - and it's a shame that it's not billed as "two people are walking in and we're finding out who the best is. no excuses, no interference, no rules. who wants it more? who is better?" and instead as "im so excited we both get to make history together!"


i think thats why im not overly bothered by the other cell matches even though they are booked poorly too. its just standard operating procedure for october feuds over the last few years. but they HAVE a great feud/build ready made and they just threw it away so steph can pat herself on the back

I don't understand even having the women in a HiaC match beyond "it's a HiaC ppv" and "let's do something we've never done before that promotes equality while patting ourselves on the back". I don't mean to sound sexist but this bunch of women in the WWE now isn't intense, at all. In order to have a good HiaC match you need to have intensity and sell hatred. I'd be willing to bet the match will range from underwhelming disappointment to straight up garbage.

After the New Day were working heel in their preshow interview, I'm suddenly far more interested in that match

Honestly, Owens/Rollins should have probably opened. I can absolutely seeing this crowd slip into a boredom coma when it's time for that match based on the WOAT build.
