Maybe I'm being a little Ross Perot-ish with my desire for a visual aid, but I'd like to see the PPA create an interactive, color-coded map of the U.S. showing which states have licensed online gaming, which are working on it, which are working on banning it and which have already banned it. You know, mouse-over for a status summary, click-through to comprehensive coverage.
Later, as networks become interstate, the map could also indicate which states have alliances with each other.

Re: Connecticut might be next about Legalizing Online Gaming
This is interesting. Gov. Malloy is really, really behind this, seeing how much money could potentially be generated. It's a Democrat dominated house and senate, so it would look good for it to pass. The sticking point is that Foxwoods and Mohegan are in the state, and who knows how they'll react to this kind of stuff, or if they have any influence on it whatsoever. The state automatically gets 25% of slot revenues off the top, and the number is dropping as business hasn't been as good at the casinos recently. It will be interesting to see not if this gets done, but how it gets done without ruffling the tribe's feathers, if the state cares at all.

From what I heard, Foxwoods and Mohegan are ready to move online, and they think that it will help them generate more money as well. I assume online play would run through them in CT.

Many call internet gambling insidious and addictive and that it should be forbidden despite the money that could be made for the state.

Location verification will likely be two-tiered for any i-poker legislation:
1. Verify registration address within state borders, possibly including check against official database or ID (e.g., DMV driver's licenses).
2. IP location verification at the time of play (and probably at the time of account registration as well).
#1 will get you an account; #2 will be performed every time you play and possibly every time you make a wager. Any resolution of an IP location during play to somewhere outside the state will probably get you blocked for that session.
I'm not sure how they will resolve situations where your regular internet service provider gives an incorrect IP location out of state, as happens in some cases. Players might have to switch their ISP in these cases to be able to play.

Re: Connecticut might be next about Legalizing Online Gaming
"Two Dogs" is ready for online poker in CT. He stated in this article/interview on NPR a couple days ago that he thinks "it will introduce a lot of new players to the game of poker."
