I agree I am a fish, but those don't necessarily seem related.

Re: Why did another poster complain about my stack?

Now I need to figure out whether it would benefit me to stack my chips in 10s.

Because it's something fish tend to do without realizing it.

Like thinking A8o UTG is a monster. A fishy player may realize he's losing but not yet recognize that particular leak.

Not all fish stack by 10 or raise A8o UTG, and not all who do those things are fish... But both things are indicators which should be weighted accordingly.

Steam simply made a pointed and comedic observation. You posted a picture of your stacks of 10 and wondered why people made fun of it. Someone stated the generalization that only newbies and fish use stacks of 10. Then you posted in another thread that you have come to realize you are the fish at the tables.

Sometimes a coincidence is just a coincidence. And sometimes it isn't. Just laugh with us and accept the minor humor of it all. We were all newbie fish once.

Tbh I don't get anyone using larger stacks than 10. You have 10 fingers. Our counting system is decimal. 10 is pretty. 20 is just weird. 20 makes sense if you have tons of chips but why would you sit with several huge stacks of the smallest chips when you can just exchange them for a few higher value chips? As long as you can bet without having to change your stack is fine.

I am a delicate fish, with an easily bruised ego.

Re: Why did another poster complain about my stack?

I have to agree that whenever I see someone stacking their chips in increments of 10 I get irritated. I just assume it to be fishy for some reason, dunno why. Maybe because I think they cant multiply by 20? Or because stacks of 10 require twice as much table space to layout, therefore they are probably encroaching on other peoples elbow room? Or realistically most river turn/river bets are greater than $50 so you might as well have the big guns ready to fire?

Honestly I dont know. It just seems logical to put your stacks in the largest possible pile without blocking your view of the cards/knocking them over. 20 per stack seems right to me, since it produces even number increments of 100/500/1000 in common games.

I can also report that the most fun I ever had involving chips was when I stacked about four towers of 40 and then started launching my bets over them like I had a small trebuchet. Tilted the table of old men pretty bad and gave me something to do while playing limit.

I never thought anyone would be bothered by how someone stacks chips. I am now going to always stack my chips in 10's. I aim to piss most of you off.

Re: Why did another poster complain about my stack?

A good trick I found to plug a leak in my game was to stack chips in uncounted stacks. This way I wouldn't guard wins and count chips so much. I have a general idea of how much I have. This tip I learned helped me a great deal in not counting my wins or losses as much and just focusing on the game. Hope this helps.

So, from what I gathered in this thread stacking in piles of 10 is +EV because people will think you're a clueless donk.
