Why did another poster complain about my stack?

So in my first brag thread, where I talked about my best live play session ever, I posted a picture of my chips. Another poster fairly emphatically stated that how I was stacking my chips was making him upset for some reason.

Ignore the giant mess of chips I just pulled in on the top right, and please tell me why you think he felt that way.

I had all my reds in stacks of 10 to make it easy for me to grab and bet (as my turn and river bets were often in multiples of 50). Eventually I got the big mess to the right stacked up into a third row of reds across the front. I did my best to keep the cash splayed on the table so people could see how much was there, and kept the 100 and 500 chips visible.

Re: Why did another poster complain about my stack?

Looks okay, but if you want to fend off the nitpickers, I would make 2 changes:
  • Stack your $5 chips in stacks of 20. It's not that hard to break a stack in half once you've had some practice with it. If you really want to have them all ready for insta-betting, just have like three or four of them at 10, the rest at 20.
  • Move the big chips to a spot where everyone can see them. Probably on top of the stacks of reds. As shown, someone on your immediate right wouldn't be able to see them.
Not sure about the best way to handle cash since where I have played 99% of my hours cash does not play.

Re: Why did another poster complain about my stack?

I see no problem with your chips other than that they're from the nugget.

[I keed... I keed...]

People stack their chips in all sorts of odd values. 20's, 25's, 30's. I like order in the universe so I prefer stacks of 20's, even in games where it makes for odd counting ($2 chips seem silly in $40 stacks). If stacks of 10 work for you, stack in 10's. I agree that your bill placement isn't optimal, but it's not that big of a problem either. Getting/asking for counts on bills/oversize is pretty common -- but I'm sure you know that.

Re: Why did another poster complain about my stack?

I see where the guy is coming from. While there obv is nothing wrong with how one stacks their chips, when I see ppl do so (stacks of 10) ... I'll admit I laugh a bit inside ... sometimes tilts me depending on the person. Not sure why though. I read somewhere on here that to some, it screams noob.

I think your being a little sensitive.

How you stack your chips is inconsequential its how you obtain them which is of importance !

It is more that I am just trying to understand some things that I come across on these forums that I never would have even considered to have been an issue.

Re: Why did another poster complain about my stack?

almost everyone stacks them in 20s thats probably the main thing. 10 just looks ugly and takes up way too much room once you get more than $300 or so. Also if you just put them in a horizontal rectangle like you have it gets very clunky. I guess if they're 10 stacks you can just reach over them though. I like to make a triangle with the point facing the centre of the table , its all designed so you can check your cards easily.

This is it for the most part, as I told OP in his thread in BBV. BBV is pretty much a joke, if you're looking for serious responses don't create a thread there.

BTW, I did enjoy your thread in BBV.

I like to stack mine all over the place, different sizes, denominations etc, the more it tilts people the better. It's their problem.

Re: Why did another poster complain about my stack?

It certainly doesn't tilt me. But more often than not players who stack the chips in stacks of 10 turn out to be players who can't handle chips. So while I don;t care how you stack them .... when I see you do that I automatically expect you to be one of those players who makes a bet by counting out the chips individually into stacks of 2, then recounting them 5 times before you bet.
