I very seldom say your welcome because I get tired of saying it. Most the time i'll just kind of nod my head in acknowledgement (a silent your welcome). Thinking in my head (yes your welcome i'm a nice guy i'll share the wealth, but I still wish I didn't have to leak chips to you but i'm not going to mess with my karma

You'll be surprised that such words "thank you" and "you're welcome" can actually make someones day much better. Just like holding the door for someone when entering/exiting a building. Idk that's my opinion and the way I was brought up to always say please, thank you and you're welcome.

I'm a waiter and probably say thank you about a hundred times a night. I can see how it would be annoying, but you also don't want to seem ungrateful once you receive a tip that you've been working for. Whether a customer says "you're welcome" back to me doesn't really make a big difference. Dealers can speak for themselves, but I would guess many of them feel the same way.

As a player I agree that saying you're welcome every time gets tedious, but it seems preferable to appearing rude. You can mix in an occasional "you got it" or "no problem" to spice things up. If I really want to minimize communication sometimes I'll semi-jokingly point at the dealer and say "alright!" This isn't as douchey as it may sound.

The one thing I think is UNQUALIFIEDLY bad is grousing about having to tip, or how with tip + rake you barely made any profit from the pot. I think most people get this, but there was a confirmed degen at my table complaining about it last time I was in a casino. Extremely annoying.

That's funny, I have the same issue. In small pots I tend to give rote acknowledgements to their thanks ("you bet," "uh-huh," "yep," etc.) and for the big pots I'll give 'em a return (exaggerated) "and thank you for doing your part too!" (which I do if I show down a winner, got away with a bluff, or have a river bluff get called and have it turn out to be a value bet -- my absolute favorite time to "have to" tip!).

I don't like to draw attention to the frequency to which I get thanked by the dealers, but I do like to draw attention to the dealers receiving tips out of pots as a general action, so I'm put in an awkward place. Ultimately it's not my battle to ensure that cash players understand that toking is a common activity, so I tend to keep general acknowledgements on the understated side of things.

I usually just nod, it's simple and easier than saying "your welcome" but means the same thing.

I wish I won enough pots for this to be a problem.

Yeah, I'm not sure why I would need to acknowledge their "thanks" in any specific way, most of the time it's part of the background since they say it to every player for every tip (and I think they should, it's polite to acknowledge it).

I might say something like "you're very welcome" or "no, thank YOU" if the hand resulted in a large pot, but otherwise I probably don't acknowledge it very often.

Do dealers find it rude NOT to have their "thanks" acknowledged? If so I can adjust, it just seems, like the poster above said, that the two way transaction is complete once the dealer says "thanks".

its one of those things that if the dealer dosent acknowledge at all you notice it.Sure they earn a tip on each raked pot so they should expect a tip but its just curtious to say TY or tap chip as it goes in box, but when a dealer continues to say nothing it becomes noticable ,dosent really bother me but if i rake a big pot the dealer that is courtious will always have better tip

It's always polite to respond to the ty but a nod or a smile is fine.

A polite dealer will always get a nicer tip from me. It's just pleasant to hear and can take the edge off after playing for hours.

The open handed light double tap of the table (anyone who's been to a B+M knows what I'm talking about) would be fine though if you don't want to say anything but feel like you should do something in response.
