This happened June 2, 2012 at an undisclosed SF Bay Area Card Room.

Two players agreed to flip for $300. So everyone else folds. So the first idiot (who only had 300 total) leaves his cards in front of his stack. As everyone is mucking their hand at the same time, the dealer pulls the first idiot's cards into the muck (unprotected hand).

Then the second idiot wants the pot awarded to him (probably the technically correct ruling but a douche bag move nonetheless). So the floor is called over. He has no idea what to do. Then the second floor is called over. He awards the pot to the second idiot. More arguing and the second floor overrules himself and decides that each player will keep their own chips.

3rd player not involved in the hand calls the second idiot a dirt-bag. Pushing and shoving ensue. Security is called and they both receive a 24 hour ban.

Pretty much. (At Commerce, the second idiot would have gotten the pot and the hand -- although not the pushing and shoving -- would be over then and there. And only the first idiot would have gotten barred.)
