what % of casino regs are 2+2'ers? what % of casino regs are 2+2'ers?

03-05-2014 , 10:23 AM
I only play live 1/2 or 2/5 in casinos recreationally, and have often wondered what % of the regs that I see down in AC or at Foxwoods/MS frequent this site ... anyone care to venture a guess?
03-05-2014 , 10:24 AM
It depends what you mean by "reg" but it's gonna be a small percentage regardless.

It's very very low.

most regs are just above a fish and people that refer to themselves as a grinder are just nits waiting for the nuts.

"reg" as in some one who grinds on a daily basis at a casino

Would I be too far off guessing that the majority of 2+2'ers are either playing online or higher stakes live?

I think it also depends on what you mean by "2+2er". Reads two threads per month? Has 1000+ posts? I'd guess that about 50% who sit 2/5 live daily have heard of 2p2 and could discuss a few of the concepts.

I've always wondered this myself...I consider myself a reg putting in 20-30 hrs a week for the past 6 months and not once in my experience has anyone brought up 2+2 at the table...I've assumed that it's the unwritten rule to never speak of it...of the handful of regs im friendly with that ive asked id say its hit or miss with even some of the more seemingly serious players though I suppose many of them were bad regs.

I would think any serious player would stumble on here eventually but I think you're right that the number is less than might be expected.

Just guessing, but if you define a reg as somebody that you see in the poker room often enough that you recognize them, I think 2% or so check in on 2+2 more than once a week.
03-07-2014 , 08:13 PM
5-10% of the 1/2 and it goes up with the limits.
03-07-2014 , 08:24 PM
I think it's hard to say. Lots of people lurk, few people post. Probably around 10%.

It really needs to get broken down a bit more than just "reading 2+2." The first thing is that the population of 1/2 players is different than 2/5. 1/2 will have more random players that are casual, non-serious players. The % will be different than for 2/5. The next split is between B&M (or M&B) readers and LLSNL readers. For example, Lattimer is a B&M mod, but never posts in LLSNL. He plays at Foxwoods. There's at least 4-5 regulars in LLSNL that also play at Foxwoods at the 2/5 level. Beyond that, there are many lurkers who read the forum, but don't log in, let alone participate.

2+2ers don't identify themselves readily. That said, I regularly hear people say things like, "Just PM me" or discuss a thread on 2+2. Keep in mind that I look like OMC and the youngins have no idea that anyone my age is looking at 2+2, let alone modding a forum. Hazarding a guess, I'd say that less than 10% of 1/2 players view 2+2. At 2/5, I'd say it was more like 20% to 25%. Keep also in mind that while many regulars don't look at 2+2, they have friends that do and will let them know if they are being talked about.

Hey why you gotta pick on me! I actually haven't played poker in over a year. Even when I played regularly it's more for fun and to socialize. Sure I did just fine at 1/2, but strategy talk doesn't really interest me and I never had any intentions of moving up to 2/5 even if properly rolled.

It curves by age and demo. Young but old enough to have played online - 20-30%?? Over 40- maybee 2%??

I once played with a guy who kept talking about how many cheeseburgers he could buy with his winnings whenever he took down a pot, but I hope he wasn't a 2+2er as he was a drunk idiot.

I deal daily tournaments and every time someone bets $350 I say "about tree fiddy"

The other night in a game literally half the table was talking about a 2+2 thread and one player even pulled up on his iPad. It felt like we were at a nerd convention.

I've been to 2+2 party a couple times and I was pretty surprised that there are many posters of all ages including 40+.

Anyone who googles poker will come across 2+2 forums.

Majority of 2+2'ers have definitely played online, maybe not so much since BF;
but majority certainly do not play higher live stakes, IMO.
Although reading the forums, apparently nearly all 2+2'ers are crushing whatever games they play (unless they're just amazingly unlucky, experiencing massive variance, bad floor decisions, collusion, etc.....)
OTOH, % of 2+2'ers live does seem to go up as stakes go up. Also PLO players seem to be more 2+2 than NLHE. I have been at live tables where 75% of players clearly read or post on 2+2. (PS: Not always bad tables, either. )

15.83456% Approximately.

Speaking of percentages, did you know that 83.26% of statistics are either wrong or made up?

A lot of former RGP people transitioned to 2 + 2. I meet them ever so often in East Coast rooms and in Vegas.

They started out playing live games, are probably still doing it, and none are younger than 35 - 40.
