I always check in, before heading over to Mirage (always park at TI), but no 2/4 games even run, when I'm bored and just want to play some poker. Have someone accidentally drop some flyers on the floor by the limit tables at Mirage, and I bet you'd at least get a list going. I'm really holding out hope that a 3/6 game will get going there by February.

Mirage is probably the most reliable 3/6 game in town. Nearly every time I have gone there, they have 2 tables going, and usually a list. I can't understand why traffic is not migrating for this promotion. I'll still keep hope alive.
Fellas.....instead of talking about it be about it. This is a poker room thread right? To promote a poker room.

Advertise here that your thinking about starting a 3/6 game. It seems there's some cats in this thread that would play there. Get interest and organize 1 or 2 days a week to start. Tell your boys at the Mirage whats up. I'm sure you could support a table or 2 a couple times a week. Who knows TI might be more appealing to a few. Bullet points would be:

Great looking room- great promo-great staff-$2/hr comps low limit etc.

Why not get a few friends together and stroll over to TI and start a table?

Id be all over that room if I lived there [soon to be]. The room looks great and the comp $ is nice for low limit poker [not to mention $2 max drop on mixed games] and Troy seems to be a good dude with a head on his shoulders.

Seriously Troy...you can do this. Small room but nice and comfy looking. No reason you cant fill the room consistently. 2p2ers will help. I know I would if I could get there.

*pasandman..I thought you were in pa? You live in Vegas now? Get a game going at TI would you?

I don't play limit, but I'd think that based on this promotion and the popularity of this board you could probably find 6-9 posters to agree on a time to show up and get a game started. Once the game starts... who knows???

Edit: I was typing as seizedeadmonies was posting.

I'm not going to be able to play until February, but if people are interested in game starting (as long as we could get it at least 6 handed), I'd be interested, once February rolls around.

LOL I am an optimist, sometimes. It's been extremely puzzling to me since I have been at TI. I know for a fact that the mirage players know about the promotion, because I've been playing there and heard them talking about it. I would think it will catch on eventually. I would love to drop some fliers in the room, but I'm good friends with the manager there, and wouldn't do that. He was my boss for several years before he took the job at the Mirage. In fact, we both worked together at the Mirage before we opened the room at TI.

Truth be told, it wouldn't be good for the longevity of the promotion if tables full of limit playing locals migrated from the Mirage. We need some tourists in order to make this work, and with limit games, that really wouldn't happen. No Limit is what the tourists like to play, so it really may just be better this way.

I recently was working in a room which could not get a limit game even when circumstances apperaed to push players from another casino into our room.

I think I figured outr why it was so hard to get a limit game. The limit players would walk into the room and ask for a $2-$4 game. We would tell them we didn't have one going put we would start a list. They would then leave. Even if one or two stayed ..... limit players simply won't start the game short. No limit players you get three of them to sit down a fourth comes get cards in the air five minutes later the game is filled...... put the limit players simply wouldn't stay in the casino unless they saw 8 names on the interest list. (obviously if the room had a history of gettiung the game they might stick around)

Re: Treasure Island - Vegas

How can this promo possibly survive? If only 30 regs get 60 hours a week then that's $18,000 paid out a week, $72,000 a month. How can the TI possibly afford to pay out that much money? My figures aren't even including the people that are gonna get paid for putting in 20 or 30 hours a week. Those figures don't even include the $1 or $2 they give an hour in comp.

I really don't see how this promo can last.

It can't last long term. But keep in mind it is not house money they are using. They are using the jackpot drop to pay this (and the.y just increased that to $2). Unfoubtedly they have a surplus and this will go through that surplus.

60 hours is a ton of time to put in. As of yesterday, we were only on pace to have 8 people hit that mark.

We decreased house rake to increase the jackpot rake.

Re: Treasure Island - Vegas

Slightly. Overall it is total increase in cost to players. With a small decrease in the amount going to the house. Definately better than just an increase.... But not an even trade either
