Re: Treasure Island - Vegas

Extremely well. Just got a text from the fellas that 2 games went all night. Usually, the 1 game that we have during the week dies at around 4am. Last night we had 4 no limit games compared to the usual 1. And the best news is that the games have had good action. I was worried they would be uber nitty.

Please post in here when you get a regular 3/6 LHE game going. There is a decent player pool at Mirage that probably has no idea this is going on, and would likely show up.

Re: Treasure Island - Vegas

I knew that this promo would attract a lot of professionals and knew the games would be tough, but I didn't expect it to be THAT tough of a lineup. These games are shark infested and probly won't follow through with my plan to play for 60 hrs. Sure it's nice to get paid 10/hr, but what good is that when you're playing with shark infested games and could be making a better hourly playing a game with mostly all tourists.

Another thing I didn't realize was how much bigger 1/3 is than 1/2 or maybe it's just because its a 500 max buy-in. Most of the people at my table had 300 minimum and like 3 guys with 600+. And with the good laggy players, the swings can be really huge and discouraging.

Aquaholik or anyone else that played,

Can you add a "trip report"? What time did you get there, how long did you play, were most pots limped pre-flop, what size were most pre-flop raises, raises usually take it down preflop, 3 bet frequency, etc.?

So 3 people at the table had $100 more than the max buy in and the others had $200 less than the max buy in and that is shark infested? I'm not trying to be rude, I just don't understand your thinking.

Not to answer for him, but I read it differently than you. His second paragraph begins by talking about how much deeper 1/3 plays than 1/2. I play 1/2 off the strip, never have I seen someone buy-in for $500 even when available. It is also a blue moon when someone buys in for $300. I think he was saying "this is not your Grandpa's regular off the strip 1/2 game".

Re: Treasure Island - Vegas

I was there this morning. at 4:30AM they had three games.

I would not necessarily say the games were shark infested. But there were no casual players in the room. Everyone there was a poker player.

My game was not nitty (I was told one of the three was). Limped pots were not common but did happen from time to time. I will not be going back as I can find weaker competition ...... and I need weaker competition. I am not afraid of the players who were there ..... but I don't see this as a good situation. At my table there was only one player I considered weaker than myself. I am not a very good player .... but i am good at knowing who is better than me.

MSUSpartan,

I'm not sure what you can do other than advertising, but it sounds like you need something other than just No Limit Hold'em. Two players have already said they probably aren't coming back. Like I said I'm not sure what you can do, but I'd be there in a heartbeat for Omaha High Low.

In all fairness .... when I say I am not coming back ...... it was clear to me that there were a bunch of people who are coming back at least until they get their hours in. Last week they would have been dark at 4:30 AM not running 3 games.

My not coming back isn't really a loss of a customer as I hardly ever played there before.

I think the promotion is a winner for the poker room and staff UNTIL THE MONEY RUNS OUT and they have to scrap or modify the promotion (this will happen .... just not sure when) at which point these players aren't coming back.

This room wasn't very busy before. This promotion could kill a busy room .... but long term I doubt it will be very negative for TI

Re: Treasure Island - Vegas

Yeah, I wasn't try to say no one is coming back. I was trying to say that deep $1/3 tables full of serious (not recreational) players is tough in several ways.

I think some type of LIMIT game running would help. Then it isn't a "wholly crap look at the size of those stacks" situation. And in the case of something like HORSE, people could believe, "these guys look good, but I can hold my own or be a favorite in one of the different games".

MSUSpartan4 must be a happy man today after yesterday's bowl game. Surprised he's been ITT today, tbh.

I'd also play 3/6 LO8, but I probably am not going to start going in until February. Hopefully, a regular LHE game will be going by then.

Ok, my bad. I play mostly on the East Coast and almost everyone buys in for at least 75% of the cap.
