One thing I do want to mention is the part about advertising in magazines, etc... I tried for 4 years to get magazine ads, and was turned down over and over. The owner doesn't believe in print ad, and getting any money from the casino for any kind of advertising is nearly impossible.

Anyways, those that I've been in touch with, I wish you the best.

Why don't you guys hire Prop players?

With their promotion, basically everyone is a prop player.

I think people often forget that to hire prop players they would essentially be employees of the poker room and would have to be paid out of their own pockets. Since promotions such as this are paid out of the drop it does not cost the room any extra money.

Re: Treasure Island - Vegas

I am really excited to give this promotion a try, looking forward to putting in some long hours at the TI come the end of the month when I arrive in LV.

MSU, you said games run 24/7 on the weekends, how have games been on weekdays and weekends now that the series is in full swing? Thanks.

I didn't know there was a $2 rake on limit games. But with a $2 jackpot drop, that's just as high as everyone else's rake most of the time. Still, lack of getting the message out...

2/4 players are not eligible for the cashback?

If you say so. I've never felt that way and most of the players at my tables were from out of town.

Unlike the Orleans, or any other local's casino for that matter, TI does not have a wide and cheap food court mere feet from the poker room, a movie theater upstairs nor do they have promotions that are run by the casino at large for locals. The cheapest meal you can have is at the pizzeria next door and I still wouldn't call them cheap.
Kahunaville is just as close as the food court places in the Orleans and cheaper than the pizza. I'm not 100% sure that Orleans poker comps can be used in the food court anyway.

One guys sees one sign on the escalator and thinks they are doing a good job of advertising. Another compares what is basically a bar where an annoyingly loud band plays "Blame It on the Alcohol" every single night to a food court. Really? Seriously, do you guys just come here to argue no matter what?

Who cares if the California cardrooms do it and have waiting lists 3 hours or more. This is Vegas, dammit, and we don't hire poker props.

By contrast, last week when I was there, the Orleans had 3 full tables of 2/4 with a list 10 deep. It was an hour wait to get a seat. The difference? They were grinding a bad beat jackpot. And the rake is $3 max. Which has more appeal - grind all week for $600 or the possibility of a life-changing couple hundred grand?

TI - being successful is easy game. Look at what successful rooms do, and do the same thing.
I'm very skeptical that TI will be successful if they do the same things that the Orleans does. One advantage the Orleans has which is mentioned in your post is they always have several limit games going. When I go to the Orleans, I know they will have limit games there. Every time I walk by the TI poker room, the only game I expect to see going is 1/3 NL.

Also the Venetian is successful with 4/8 limit, is just across the street, and they have a $4 rake and no bad beat jackpot. I think Mirage has a bad beat jackpot with their 3/6 game, but I think the rake is $4 there.

I don't agree that $2 drop and $2 jackpot is the same as a $4 rake. The players get the $2 from the jackpot back, and then some, when they capitalize on the promotion. $3-$6 limit and higher qualifies for the cashback promo. $2-$4 plays way to small to allow that to qualify.

I haven't been there in a couple weeks but the games run until at least 4 am on all nights. Just call ahead to see how the action is. 702-894-7291.

The promo pays $10 an hour plus $2 an hour comps. They do hire prop players.

Yes, but unless things have changed recently, they'll pay you to sit there and wait to try to get that first game of the day started. They'll log you in and you'll get credit for that time as you work toward the $12/hr max compensation ($10 + $2 comp).

well 60 hours is too much and players will get burnt out. do you know the application site for the prop players? and how much does it pay, and also can they benefit from the bonus or comps?

Most places with a $4 rake will also have a jackpot in addition to the rake, so it's definitely not the same as a lot of the rooms with a $4 rake.
