Interesting, I had never heard of A-5 not counting as a straight. I looked it up, and the first site I checked corroborated that it's not.

Regarding the burns, it is the house rule to leave them out, because with so many dealers and players, things are easily confused.

I'm going to be honest, I would have probably gotten that question wrong on my draw poker IQ test. Robert's is pretty damned clear about it. I guess I should feel dumb about not knowing this off the top of my head since it's a game that I occasionally play for low stakes.

The hand 5‑4‑3‑2‑A is not considered to be astraight, but an ace-5 high, so it beats other ace-high hands and pairs, butloses to king-high.

Interesting and agree.

You've glossed over an incredibly important facet of your post. Details!

10/20 mix and 20/40 mix games go every day, 2-7 is usually in them. haven't seen anything smaller though

the dealers are confused anyway and this does nothing to alleviate it. I still see no reason not to shuffle the burn cards in

There's this girl that's there every day, I'm sure you've seen her. She's tall, with bleached blonde hair, and generally has her fake chest hanging out. From what I hear, he "propositioned" her. I don't know the details.

From what I understand, he's also banned from Venetian (for trying to recruit players over to the Hard Rock) and from Aria and from Bellagio. (although I don't know why he's banned from these places)

Everything here is second and third-hand info and I don't know how reliable it is, but I do know he's banned from Rio. (A floor confirmed for me)

Played plo all night sitting next to Sam grizzle last night. What a nit. I lol'ed inside (is that even possible) when he asked for my cell # so I could give him more info about the 10/20/40 plo game that runs in San Diego. Cant imagine him playing in that game with his confirmed nitdom.
Played one of the crazier hands ever when I flopped three aces, turned the nut full, and the maniac potted into me when I rivered quads. He folded for 100 more into a $2k pot when I shoved. Haha.

Re: The (slightly less serious) WSOP 2012 Ongoing Discussion Thread

i saw the ice man at the rio on wed or thu this week when i was there, so i assume this happened after that?

one other funny plo hand: i happened to take a seat with a maniac on my left after my previous table broke and we combined. the maniac was drunk and spewstastic and loved playing monster pots no matter his relative position. when someone is playing that crazy, it's almost the best seat in the house to have him on your left, cuz you essentially get to act last after he's raised and everybody else has acted on his raise.

pretty obv strategery to limp in whenever you want to play a hand and then decide what to do when the action comes back around.

so i pick up the monster () KQ93 double suited and limp. he raises and about 5-6 people call, i pot, and he instantly re-pots all in. interestingly, we get a cold caller and of course i re-ship and he calls. so we have a three way all in with a small-ish side pot between me and the cold-caller. at this point i'm confident that my King high has the maniac beat and i was shipping for value (!) against him. the other guy has played pretty solid in general, so i'm not sure what to make of his call....

we all agree to run two boards and i scoop the entire pot with a King hi flush on top and Queens + treys on the bottom! haha.

the maniac showed 8753 (i think rainbow!). and i think the other guy had two small pocket pairs. good stuff.

pretty nuts that mizrachi won the 50K again. He has been playing awesome IMO and not just running good, seems like him and Antonio both have been keeping up with the game where as some of these other livepro/tourney circuit pro guys have just fallen off.
