tip how much for jack pot hand for casino?? tip how much for jack pot hand for casino??

11-18-2011 , 02:21 PM
if you won the jack pot from casino like 100,000 that day . losing hand get $50,000
after pay tax, you will be get 35,000 to your pocket. so how much you guy will pay for the tip??? imo, 10% looks too much.

Paying 10% is ******ed, IMO.

I won a $31.5K jackpot (not taxed up here) and believe I tipped $200 or $300 at the table, $100 at the poker room front desk and bought the table a round of drinks. Just do what you feel comfortable with, but if you tipped a couple hundred of dollars I don't think anyone would consider you a douche. Biggest ever jackpot winner up here didn't leave any tip, I don't think he'll ever live that down.

If I win a high hand or promotion of some sort, I tip a much larger % than If I simply won a pot. If I won a 31.5K, I would estimate that I would tip the dealer anywhere from $500-$1000, but that's just me.

I am a good tipper..and always tip when I win or cash in any tourney but honestly I would have no idea what to tip on a jackpot of that size..10% does seem like too much though..probably depends on how much I had been drinking..

Given that the jackpot is the casino giving back the money it already took from all the players, I would tend to tip a smaller percent. A few hundred should be sufficient, (1-3%)

Where I play, BB jackpot winners will typically tip 2%-3%.
11-19-2011 , 10:24 PM
Where I play most people tip 2-3%

I consider myself a generous tipper so I would probably give 4-5% to a dealer I like, less if it's someone I don't like or has no personality

10% seems way to much to me. If I hit 100k I'd probably tip the dealer 1-2k and maybe 100-200 to any other casino employees in the vicinity like chiprunners, cage person, etc. Probably wouldn't tip the floor.

i tipped like $325 for $12500 and i thought it was a bit overkill but i was tired and drunk

I don't get this, could very well be a cultural thing. Do you guys tip the guy who sold you the lotto ticket as well should you win? So if you win 80 million dollars you would give thet guy a cool million? I mean it's just above 1%.
I really don't understand why you need to tip so much on what is essentially a lottery. This isn't like a tournament where the tip from the prize pool is instead of the regular tips from pots won in cash. To me anything beyond like 20 bucks in this case seems absurd.

if i won 35,000, the dealer is getting $250, floor is getting a $20, and everyone at my table is getting a round of drinks.

I won 3k in a BBJ and I tipped the guy $200. Its a local BBJ though. Every pot donates $1 into the pool and I was good friends with dealer

Yea, tipping a dealer is not like tipping a service person. however, I believe it depends on the type of person you are: A tight-wad jerk, or a friendly person sharing a windfall based on luck. I won a mini-bbj for $600 recently and i tipped the nice young lady dealer dealer $60. If I won the current $101k bbj at my local casino it would be 2k-3k of the 50k I would win. These poor slubs have to deal cards for a living. My life is better, why not make someone else's a little nicer.

A - It is not your fault they are dealing cards
B - If you gave money away for no reason besides feeling bad for someone - where would you end up?

2-3% is standard from what I've seen.

I will let you know how much I tip off of a BBJ as soon as I hit one, which should ... be ... any ... day ... now ...

FWIW, at the Snakes Poker Club (indian casino near montreal) the room automatically takes 10% from the total BBJ and awards it to the dealer...

It's just proper etiquette and customary to do so.

Great for the game imo, makes dealers actually try to deal more hands and keep the games running quickly.

Can't see myself giving more than $200 in this situation

this

i have no interest in playing the bbj in the first place. it's a $1/pot -EV lotto that i dont want to play. if i won i wouldn't tip anyone and i wouldn't feel bad about it either. i feel like tipping from a bbj is encouraging the room to persist with this rake-inflating bull**** racket.

I'd say around 2.75%.

It works out to approximately 5% of post-tax winnings (depending on size of jackpot, winner's place of residence, etc.). I've always mentally figured on stashing 45% immediately into an escrow savings to cover state and IRS taxes with substantial cushion leftover, leaving the other 55% free and clear to do whatever I want to do. 5% of that 55% works out to about 2.75% of the entire total.

Not only did the jackpot get funded by players, but a lot of casinos take juice out of that on top, for "administrative expenses". I'll never win a jackpot, but if I do, I doubt all the tips I would spread around would exceed $100. I pretty much tip every hand already. I'd rather lose that money back to the players than give it to casino employees.

I read somewhere it was 3% of the BBJ maybe that is basically equal to 10% of the winners(losing hand) share of BBJ. It still is kind of gross to take it automatically.

I just read the snakes website...
- 5% is put aside from individual prizes to go to staff as a gratuity.
