I've paid my fair share of taxes on my winnings and have absolutely no problem with that. However, I am paranoid about vastly public record available for anyone with internet access to see.

What are some of the ways to prevent my information spilling onto the web once I give my ID and info when cashing a tournament?

I know that the Venetian allows you to opt out of having your results publicized, I'm not sure about WSOP/CET or Others

To provide this information to you, I'm going to need your:

Full Name
Social Security Number
Credit Card number
Copy of your birth certificate
Blood Sample
Semen Sample
A giant baby's feeding bottle
Naked photos of Bea Arthur
67 copies of Moby Dick
A football helmet filled with cottage cheese

My understanding is that you can't.

I would ask prior to registering for a tourney. I see people listed as Firstname Lastinitial, so that may be an option.

Has anyone ever tried to get a comp card and/or register for a tournament under a corporate name?

No. I'm sure it has been tried before. I do know that casinos don't mind if someone has multiple people playing under one person's name.

As for the OP, I'm sure it depends on regulations. My guess is if they can, a room would accommodate someone who didn't want their name listed.

My old boss who had held elected office used a pseudonym at casinos and they gave him players cards with that name. I am certain he arranged this through a host, its not like he got fake ID to trick them.

However he was not a poker player.

I know in my room they don't ID you when you buy in, but they get a players card. When you win they ask for ID and check the name against the registration list. So if you have a players card under a fake name, you are going to have a problem if you cash in the tournament. This is a pretty reasonable precaution especially in bigger events to make sure the people cashing are actually the people who entered.

But they also will not publicize your win if you ask them not to.

I've seen you play. You have no worries. Cashing a tourney is extremely unlikely. Jk

Seriously, it depends on your jurisdiction. I play in South Florida. I have never been asked for ID when I cashed or won the nightly tourney. However, when my winnings were $1200 and up, I had to show ID, give SS#, and was given a 1099 with my cash.

Florida has no state income tax, so their requirements for smaller amounts less than $1200 may be less stringent than jurisdictions that do tax income.
