Re: Oaks Card Club: Emeryville's Friendliest!

Happy New Year. 3am munchies at 711 after a long session can't be a bad thing.

It's a good thing for people in (or who pass through) the neighborhood. It's probably not a good thing for the owners of Black & White Liquor.

Hostess chocolate covered donettes for the win. Powder covered a close second.

+1

B&W liquor's sale will go down, but their liquor sale should remain unchanged. Last I checked 7-11 doesn't sell alcohol.

They certainly sell beer, and (I think) wine.

Maybe this deserves it's own thread maybe not:

Playing 100max and I'm in EP and I want to make a minimum raise to 4. My chips are sticking to each other and I could not pick up four chips in a timely fashion. Therefore, I said "raise" and toss out four chips one at a time in four separate motions. Action goes around the table steadily despite players asking whether I made a string raise or not.

Someone 3bets and I call and it's HU to the flop. Here's the interesting part.

Two players not in the hand are asking the dealer to clarify what I did. The dealer took her time explaining without putting out the flop. meanwhile the preflop action is complete and the two players still involved in the hand are patiently waiting.

Seriously? Just deal the cards. Leave the rule clarification to the floor. If you feel the need to make a simple rule clarification, do it while dealing.

Re: Oaks Card Club: Emeryville's Friendliest!

Is there such thing as a five deep rule?

Off the clock floorman is sitting in seat 5 on my table. He's drinking with some regs, screwing around, and having fun. He runs good and has a lot of chips in front of him; a 3x6 rectangular prism to be exact.

One dealer tells him he can't have his stack 6 deep. There is a "five deep rule" that says you can't have chips more than five stacks away from you. She explains it is to ensure players to his left and right may see his cards.

What happened afterwards was relatively entertaining. off the clock floorman has never heard of this rule before. He calls over multiple floorman to find out if this rule exists. obviously no one takes him seriously because he asks in a joking tone and we're probably sitting at the funnest table in the house.

off the clock floorman points out the guy in seat 2 who also has a chip stack that is six deep. the dealer say that's ok because he's sitting on the edge. One floorman also said, "you don't know about this rule because you never had that much chips in front of you! ha ha ha"

Never heard about that rule.

Has anyone else ventured to the bar/hofbrau side of things recently? They have new coasters for drinks, with the design of the $1 chips. I think that's really cheap; that they should be at least $100, if not $1000.

Yeah some people have brought them to the tables and thrown them in the pot. I think $100 white chip ones would be more classy.

I've never heard of any rule about how wide of a footprint your chip stack can have. I think as long and you're not impeding your neighbors or the dealer it should be fine.

Please tell me this was Mike. Middle aged asian floorman? He is the nuts. Always good for the game, will call you down light and buys drinks for anyone.
