To be clear, that line intentionally conveys far more degen than I actually am.

No offense taken.
And you're right. I would be fine with the mod deleting my posts.

Deleted the "identifying" posts If you feel a post was deleted unfairly, or you feel I cast too wide of a net, please let me know. I'd have edited them, but I am awfully lazy.
Please keep your identifications to known poker personalities, badge-wearing customer-facing staff for providing directions or factual information [e.g. "Call Jeff to get a list of specials" not "Dave is a bad dealer."], or how to find YOU.
Feel free to discuss an event at the table with the usual and vaguely racist "Hoodie Kid" and "Crazy Asian Gambler" descriptions we've all grown to know and love.

Re: Oaks Card Club: Emeryville's Friendliest!
The new Vietnamese menu has been getting good reviews from folks. The pork chop got raves, but it wasn't on the version of the menu I saw today...
The grilled chicken also got good reviews, and I actually tried it -- it wasn't bad at all. A very generous portion (literally half a chicken), and not at all dried out. I didn't care for the dipping sauce it came with, and you can just toss the crappy steamed rice, but for the price, the chicken itself was quite good. By Oaks standards, it was practically gourmet.
I'm told they actually have a new chef who makes the food on this menu, which explains why it's only available on certain times/days.

Re: Oaks Card Club: Emeryville's Friendliest!
I tried the "deep fried egg rolls" on rice vermicelli the other day. The "egg rolls" were really fried spring rolls (to be an egg roll, it should be dipped in egg batter before frying), but apart from that quibble it was everything one could ask for.
I wish that with the Vietnamese menu they served Vietnamese iced coffee, but that's asking a lot of everyone from the kitchen to the janitors.

They do have that; it's on their regular menu.

Re: Oaks Card Club: Emeryville's Friendliest!
going to be moving to emeryville in a few weeks so very excited. i had a couple questions. does the o8 game run every day? i hear there's 4-8 and 6-12, would love to somehow get a 10-20. also, for spread limit, say it's 2-100. does that mean the max betting on flop capped at 100 dollars, or is the max bet 100 on flop, and then possible to raise another 100?
thanks again

Re: Oaks Card Club: Emeryville's Friendliest!
The 4-8 Omaha/8 game goes pretty much daily, except on Thursdays, when a regularly scheduled 6-12 Omaha/8 game goes down. The 4-8 has a half-kill to 6-12 (killer acts in turn), and the 6-12 has a third-kill to 8-16. I'd say there's essentially no chance of a 10-20 Omaha/8 game ever going down.
The 100-max spread-limit has a maximum bet size of $100. You can bet any amount from $2 to $100. If someone bets $2, you can raise any amount from $2 to $100; if someone bets $50, you can raise as little as $50 and as much as $100. If someone bets $100, the only amount you can raise is $100.

I believe the 6/12 O8 game also goes on Fridays, at least some weeks.

Re: Oaks Card Club: Emeryville's Friendliest!
My impression is those are the Fridays when the game made it through Thursday night and morning.
