Re: Lost value??!?

It sounds like you wanted, maybe even expected more money from this pot.

Just because you floped this monster, the nuts, be carefull what you wish for. In your post you mentioned someone *could* have had j9, sure they could have, and they might have won the hand.

You floped a monster and got paid well for it, be happy and move onto the next hand.

And BTW, everytime you flop a monster you're not going to double up, and sometimes you'll loose you're whole stack.

Re: Lost value??!?

I'll tell you the real mistake in this hand is the pre-flop raise amount, and most likely the reason you did not get any callers on the flop. If you raise to 15 instead of 10 you get more money into the pot imo, and you put more pressure on your opponents to continue on in the hand with less than stellar holdings, or to try and make a play on you. The way your opponents are playing you is hit or quit... all they want to see is the flop so you need to charge more to put the pressure on.

The way you played it is the best line to take. Don't give a free card because they just want to see cards and will check around. Plus, some nit could have flatted with KK or AA just to get tricky. You need to charge every street. It would be a mistake not to imo.

Re: Lost value??!?

I think the way you played it is fine. It definitely feels like you lose value when you flop such a monster but letting a free card peel would certainly be a bigger mistake in a seven way pot.

Re: Lost value??!?

Bet it and pray someone has 2 pair or a set. You're probably not getting any money anyway since you have the nuts on such a dry board, and if someone has a gutshot you want them to pay for the draw.

yes, you lost value... raise larger pre flop, even on 1/2 table.
