They heard Mike Sexton say it.

Does anyone have any stories about a player who was bluffing and his anxiety seemed to make him slip up in his speech?

Here's an example of what could be a nervous slip, from one of the Poker After Dark cash games. Businessman Dee Tiller bluffs 25K on the river against Eli Elezra. Elezra says, "Why so much, Dee? You were drawing for a flush and you missed it?" Dee Tiller says, "Let me have this one, I'll take the next one, Eli." This is a nonsensical statement; he meant to say "Let me have this one, you take the next one." (He'd actually said that statement earlier when value-betting.) One explanation is that his anxiety caused him to make this slip.

Do you guys have any similar stories where you were clued into someone's anxiety (rightly or wrongly) based on a similar, subtle slip?

Also; had this player shown any past history of being tricky in such a way? Talkative player? Deceptive before that point? I'm just curious if you would have guessed he was capable of that.
I had only been at the table for an hour and if he was capable of labeling me, I'd imagine he saw me as kinda nitty. He hadn't done anything remotely like this while I was at the table, and had played the hands he had very straightforwardly (fit or fold, donk bet on TPGK, obviously chasing flush draws).

I think he thought I was going to call and tried to persuade me otherwise. I think that he pretty clearly thought I had an overpair, and I thought at the time that my perceived nittiness was what made him try this move.

I was thinking of folding because I he hadn't done anything tricky and I was pretty afraid of the flush given his (very limited) history, but showing me the Ac just made me feel "strong means weak". It was an immediate gut knowledge that he didn't have the flush.

By the time he left the table about $1000 poorer, I would have called with or without the seeing the card, as it turned out that I saw his best hour. He was an idiot who basically slowplayed any good made hand and shoved semi-bluffs exclusively.

Liked your book. Can't wait for the next one.

2/3 game bought in for $200. I raised the first hand dealt to me. One player called and folded to my cbet.

Second hand was dealt 99, I raised to 15. One drooler called me on my left and the BB 3bet to 60? I asked him if he raised due to his hand or due to my raising twice in a row. He said "A little of each." I was amazed how truthful his statement sounded and was convinced he had an overpair. I folded and he flips over AKs. I still like my fold. I think his range is TT+ and ***** AKs.

2/3 game

Hero(UTG): JT $300
Villain(UTG+1): 87 $100?

I do not remember the preflop action or size of the pot. This is my best guess postflop.

Flop: T93

Hero: bets 15??
Villain: AI, pot is now $135? Table folds to Hero and it's $85 to call
Hero: "I have a ten."
Villain: "All you have left is ten dollars?"
Hero: Call
Referee: "Villain is penalized for gibberish and receives bad karma. Hero wins"
Crowd: Goes wild

2/3 game. I have been at this table for about 20 hands. The three players in this hand all had $300 stacks. The other six players folded. No 3bets yet at this table.

(pfr/vpip) for these 20 hands.

Hero(10/20)utg:AQ
Villain1(0/30)utg+1:??
Villain2(30/35)mp:??

Villain2 is aggressive preflop, but very friendly which is somewhat rare for lagtards. Maybe he was getting great cards? He has already seen me do my interrogation routine on a previous hand.

Hero: raise to $12
Villain1: calls $12
Villain2: reraise to $40
Hero: "You picked up two white chips. Were you going to call $12 or make it
$42?"
Villain2: "You ask such difficult questions." (starts to look very nervous)
Hero: "OK! Let's see a flop!"
Hero: calls $40
Villain1: calls $40

Flop: K72

Hero: Bets $75
Villains both fold

During the hand I put villain2 on a medium pp. Upon further reflection, i wonder if ATs+ or even AQo is more likely.
