I think I'm just a pretty average recreational player, but I see this all the time in tournaments - players calling off a good quarter or third or even half of their stack pre-flop, and then folding after the board comes out and there's action. It seems really common.

Playing at the Casino At The Empire, had a guy join my table, who not only had his girlfriend in tow, but arrived with a poker training book in hand as well. Needless to say, he didn't last long.

Saw this today. 1/2NL UTG raises to $8 and UTG+1 re-raises to $16. Everyone else folds to UTG who folds his JJ face up and says "there's just not enough money in the pot to play these". FWIW UTG+1 showed 66 with the funniest look on his face.
