it's usually specific to something that just happened, like reinforcing an awful call made by a fish or telling them they were right not to raise their second nut straight bc they only get called when they're beaten, etc etc

Re: How often do you run into pro poker players posing as dealers?

I've worked in card rooms where the players actively encourage the dealers to help them abuse the way players have played hands, used to make me cringe, laugh, cry and leave me asking why the **** I did the job. Just biting the hand that feeds you and giving dealers a bad name.

Only comments I made were to keep the game moving fast and to thank players for the tips.

it's unethical for a dealer to talk about hands... HOWEVER, it doesn't stop them from doing so.

The thing Op needs to keep in mind is that dealers are usually bad players.

I'm guessing they see so much bad play that works in the course of their jobs, that they try all manner of stupid plays when they play.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Their strat "advice" is usually pretty bad, so they're not doing anybody any favors, only inflating their own egos.

So let em spout their mis-information, Imo. The worst thing that could happen is if you take their advice.

Man, there's this one dealer at casino that ALWAYS talks poker strategy at the table. FFS, dude, just deal the cards.

This thread is utterly ridiculous and totally moronic.

A better thread would be, "how often do you run into 22 year old malcontents living with Mom and dad posing as 1/2 pros"

Enough said.
You might be worse at posting than anyone else has ever been at doing anything. Ted Bundy's relationships with brunettes think that you're terrible at posting.

When the dealer gives me an extra reason to stiff them, it doesn't bother me a bit. Extra fun if you let the dealer in on why he's getting stiffed.....and nothing like going on a big rush while you do it to tilt the dealer.

Re: How often do you run into pro poker players posing as dealers?

At the casino I play in 6 out of the 10 players at the table are usually regs who have long standing relationships with the dealers. This usually leads to a lot of friendly small talk but I haven't heard to much coaching from the dealers. You would think most of them realize that's not in their job description and it could very well get them into huge trouble.
