Yeah and you 'professional' 2/5 and 5/10 grinders lose more in one pot than I lose in a 3 month period.

I really don't think they do because they just lose it all back in one or two hands

I only came here because I thought this might be about Howard Lederer dealing at the Taj Midnight Madness with a fake mustache on.

I agree, this is a bit out of line. But if it's a heavy locals place, then sometimes this kind of thing goes on. At least they're not giving advice during a hand. They're just working it, trying to keep it fun for their regulars. After all, all these other players are losing, right? They're making money for you, right? The dealers are just trying to help them have fun, stay at the table, make more money for you.

As you're powerless to stop it, this is a good way to view it.

That's funny, because every day I smile and think to myself....'yep. that's why I'm glad I'm dealing cards instead of still playing'

I agree, it's very unprofessional. But if you let it really make you mad, then your game is suffering. Strive to rise above it.

Re: How often do you run into pro poker players posing as dealers?

Back on topic, there's rarely a day of playing that goes by where either (a) the guy or gal in the 7-seat has to sit out a down because her boyfriend or his wife is dealing; or (b) the guy in the 10 or 1 seat is so chummy with the dealer that they're showing cards, commenting to each other on hands, setting cards aside, rabbit hunting and comparing notes...

...and it's annoying.

Despite objections that we're not Zen masters enough to not let us piss us off, we're not all Vulcans, so these things do happen.

The smaller the card room, the more likely this is to happen... ...such are isolated markets.

*sigh*

And, finally, this thread's getting multiple reports - probably deservedly. Play nice or I'll sic Ray on you.

Agreed, it's really annoying when things like this happen. It does bother me when dealers are talking about the hand. I was giving some bad advice the other day (intentionally) and the dealer tells me how bad it is... What am I supposed to do in that spot? "I know, but keep your mouth shut and deal." all I can do is shoot him a look.

on a side note, if you see a thread in B&M that you'd like here, I'm sure Rapini would copy it and send that over if you asked

Re: How often do you run into pro poker players posing as dealers?

OP usually has decent early questions or comments in his posts. It's cool untill someone is curt, disagrees, or is rude, then OP just levels and trolls and the thread goes to hell and lock. Don't know if he just tilts easily or does it on purpose. Really doesn't matter that much and he is not the only one either lol.

LOL! So glad somebody spoke up that they do this too. I love to get into heated arguments with people about stuff that I know I am wrong about. It is (a) extremely entertaining and (b) helpful to my image. But mostly (a).

My favorite false claim to argue about: JTsoooted is 50/50 against AA. Try it. Hilarious.

I like using stuff that sounds like it makes sense that way the better players may think I'm serious and thus bad and the worse players may think it sounds good and take it to heart.
