I've known it has been in the works for a while, but it appears that it will actually take place. Rather than be sad, it is a victory for the regulars of this forum who showed the powers that be that relaxing the modding of B&M would not destroy that forum. I thank you all for making modding this forum an easy job. A special thanks to The Palimax, while no longer around, took it upon himself to get this started.

Sorry to see it go, I do agree that it's time though.

Any ETA/will active threads be preserved?

So when will it be safe to go back into the water at B&M?

Whenever I get around to typing up the new rules and guidelines sticky. That'll happen before this forum closes, don't worry.

Is there someone I can find new rules for B&M, or any discussion of changes? I don't see anything in that forum about it.

The discussion was not done publicly. And they haven't been posted yet.

The new rules have now been posted. They are locked at the top of the B&M forum.

They look good to me.

Ultimately, that will be up to the mods of B&M. My suggestion is that they ask that the threads be moved to B&M as is. Most due to age are going to disappear off the front page of B&M, therefore not going to be much of an issue.

As many of you who know me know, shortly before HPI 2013, I lost my job. They let 70 people go that day, including two leads from my group (of which I was one). While it was somewhat unexpected, I had a more than fair severance package, plus a large PTO payout. I had opted to take some time for myself, and was looking for jobs that started just after HPI 2013.

For those of you who attended HPI 2013, you may also know that I took one day on a contract job before they decided I wasn't for them... I still wasn't in a hurry.

In late September, I started a three month contract job that I'm now schedule to be at until this September - and they likely plan on keeping me after that.

This particular job pays well (enough), but doesn't afford me nearly the level of scheduling freedom of my previous job, nor do I feel as free to spend time between tasks checking in on 2+2. Also, this particular job is a 45-50 minute drive from my house (which isn't that abnormal in Phoenix), and on a much more 9-5 schedule. It's a button-up kind of place.

I am otherwise alive and well.

As some of you in 2013 got to see, I had friends that got back into the collectible gaming business - cardboard crack. I played Magic at a high level back from '94 to roughly 2000. I now play exclusively at my friend's store (having fun as a loyal supporter of their business) and at large events. [I attended GP Vegas and GP Albuquerque, and this weekend is GP Phoenix.] I'm currently spending roughly 1 night a week drafting with a private group of other Magic players, some of which with 4-digit DCI numbers. I also spend another night a week, on average playing open semi-competitive limited, Standard and Modern at "my" store.

I still play poker pretty much every Wednesday in my league (season 22). I was the points champion this last season, but "Killer" Ken three-peated as finals champion, forcing me into second. [My overs fell to his small pair.]

My Saturday league has slowed down, but I still play about once a month instead of 2-3 times.

Casino trips have been less frequent.

My wife is well and making twice as much as she made before 2013.

The children are healthy, but teenagers.

A couple weeks back, immediately after the Season 22 finals of the SCPC, my truck was broken into (opened, rather -- one of the doors doesn't lock 100% of the time, and that time the stuff was in the car, and kids were rolling through my white-bread neighborhood), and we lost the club chips and computer.

I'm in the process of rebuying Lucky Bee 8300 chips and custom vinyl labels.

...they also took my wife's (formerly her grandmothers) bowling ball. Who does that?!? It's bad enough you get to throw away a thousand custom China clays that have no value to anyone but the person who customized them, but... ...a bowling ball? They left my Magic "go bag" untouched, plus left my ceramics, which are cable-locked in the back.

The sister-in-law moved out, so we're getting a combination office/video-poker-room for the RFID table. That's in-progress.

Otherwise, I'm alive and well.

I'll post in the HPI 2014 thread shortly, and maybe I'll process video. ...I'm a man dammit, and I said I'll get to it, and there's no reason to remind me every six months.

Yes, thank you for posting that. I was wondering what had happened to him. Glad to know he's doing well, overall.
