Re: "Is This a Douchebag Move" Containment Thread

Douchey to the players? No.

As a dealer, I'd rather you break a table right before the push. The dealer may have just come off a break, and now a broken table means s/he won't get a new assignment for another 30-40 minutes. Whereas if you break the table 5-10 minutes before the end of the down, the dealer may get re-routed immediately.

Context-dependent.

In a strip club, stare away. In a business meeting, probably even sneaking peeks is uncool.

If she's not in a hand, then sneak. But if she's just made a big bet, open your eyes wide and stare; after all, you should be examining other players for tells, even if you aren't involved in the hand.

I was playing at Foxwoods one very late night when an extremely attractive woman with deep cleavage joined the table - may or may not have been a hooker but very friendly to all the guys at the table. She went to the bathroom and one of the guys said, "wow you can't help getting a hard-on with her at the table". One of the others said, "The only thing that gives me a hard-on is picking up aces in a raised pot".

Over the past weekend at a 10 handed 2/5 game, player A makes an 80 river bet. Player B announces call. Player A shows hand. Player B sees his hand, continues counting the entire 80 out exactly into 4 stacks, pushes it into the pot, then shows the winning hand.

So Player A couldn't be a douche and argue that he hadn't called the river bet?

At my regular home game, it was half-jokingly suggested that I bring in strippers or maybe get a hot female dealer sometime.

Because that's what I want in an evening: sitting in close proximity at a round table looking at eight guys who have boners.

I've played in a several underground games over the years where they employed "hot" female dealers and/or brought in "massage women". I have to say I've missed playing in games where they actually had strippers.

Re: "Is This a Douchebag Move" Containment Thread

I think it's important to remember that most of the "douchey" behaviors we observe are not intended to be malicious. They're usually from people who are either inexperienced, or who don't hold "winning money" as their primary reason for playing. These are good people to have at the table. Just because they don't act how you would act, doesn't mean their actions carry the same intent as you would have if you were to make them.

Remember, we want our opponents to be less sophisticated than we are. This is cause for celebration.

Re: "Is This a Douchebag Move" Containment Thread

When I make decision as to whether or not to stay/play in a game - - - I'm concerned about the welfare of only one person - - - ME!

Now I never talk about when I am leaving (gives away too much information) so I decide to leave I just get up and I don't have to answer to anyone. This is why I don't play in home games (besides security), I want to leave at my option and not answer to anyone!
