Dear Caesars, Thanks for the $4k!

I have played at one Caesars property almost exclusively since playing live in the last 8 months. I was over 6000 tier credits and asked politely if they would upgrade me to Diamond status early (Oct or Nov of last year) since I was well on pace to hit it by March of this year. I was informed that "year" meant calendar year and I'd have to hit it by Dec 31 or start back at zero. I made a big push to try to earn tier credits, but as any poker player knows, 17 tier credits an hour isn't going to cut it. I played a lot of blackjack, but no one could tell me exactly how tier credits are figured. I ended the year at 8500 points. By March of this year, I had another 3,000 points and politely asked again to be upgraded. Again, I was told no.

Because the management at this property cannot figure out how to get the buffet line moving, and no wifi access in the casino (except for the Diamond lounge), etc, I decided to go for Diamond in a day. I busted my ass at video poker for over 3000 tier credits in about 7 hours. I confirmed that their "day" starts and ends at 6am. Once Total Rewards opened up later that day, I went there to get upgraded, figuring from my past experiences, this somehow wouldn't go smoothly. Sure enough, it didn't go smoothly. The points were visible and all, but because I changed machines (duh!, you thought I was going to play 3000 points and never move?), the computer didn't "see" the points. After a call to someone else, they managed to upgrade me as a "courtesy". It really pisses me off when they do what they agreed to do and call it a "courtesy", and without that comment, this post wouldn't exist.

In my almost 7 hours of video poker, I hit a royal flush for $4000, and the points earned qualified me for 300 entries into a drawing that day, where I won another $1040 in free slot play (which sadly, only ended up as $840 in cash after running it through VP). I "lost" about $800 earning the 3000 points (not including the royal flush payout), so overall, I earned about $4k out of the deal.

If Caesars had just bent the rules a little bit (or had better management that could get the cashier lines moving at the buffet), I wouldn't have had to take their money. As it ended up though, I made money, got my damned diamond card, and am here to tell Caesars to kindly kiss my ass for making me jump through all these hoops just to not have to wait an hour in a buffet line.

I'm sure they aren't crying over the loss, but I did want to rub their faces in it none the less.

glad to see you stuck it to them. how dare they say its a courtesy, when it plain as day on there website states if you get 3000 tier credits in a day you get diamond card. then they still give you trouble that's horrible. but hey good for you on getting it and with a nice profit!

Ceasars doesn't care that you hit a royal flush. They just care that you played. I am happy for you and your 4k, but some number of other VP players will make up your 4k for them.

Table gaming points take a day or two to show up on your card. Poker points sometimes more. Points accrued in other properties sometimes only show up after your second or third or fourth insert, and only sometimes after a half an hour or more. Points accrued on the machine next to you should be available immediately on your total, but often a combination of other factors may make it seem like you have fewer points than you do. Points on the TR website show up (generally) after the next gaming day.

...at least in my experience.

I'm actually on pace to *not* hit diamond this year for the first time in a few years. I'll know after the WSOP if I'm going to go back to being a normal person this year.

Palimax,

I know they don't care that I got a royal flush. However, it was taken from someone who actually plays VP regularly, so they should have saved it for someone who would have more appreciated it .

Of course, in my email this morning was a marketing email from them which contained "So, accumulate 92352 more Tier Credits by December 31, 2012, and you'll become a Seven Stars member"... how much of a freaking degen do they think I am? 92k more... oh please!

Sounds like they're calling you out.

I wouldn't back down now, you'd be showing weakness.

I thought 7-Stars required the points _and_ an invitation.

You can have my answer now if you'd like, Mr. Casino Host. My final offer is this: an upgrade to Diamond status and $4,000. Which I'd appreciate if you put up personally.

True. True.

Current Tier: DIAMOND Tier Score: 3381

I was thinking I was *way* off pace to keep my Diamond, but assuming I'm 4/12th done here at the end of April, I guess I'm on pace for 10k, which means I'm in striking distance.

...but I'm long overdue for a big win. As much as I have mixed feelings about getting W2-G's, I need me some W2-G's.
