There is a story around STL about a player in the 20-40 game that busted took his dinner break robbed a bank and came back to the game but that was before my time.

There is currently a 5-10 NLHE player that was recently the subject of a scathing news story that claimed his payroll company had taken money from companies to pay quarterly taxes and payroll but shut down before any of it was paid and used the money to fund his gambling habit.

I played with this guy a few times after he made the jump to 15-30. Not a very good player; he took too many risks.

Beknownst to me, mostly drug dealers and gangbangers which, btw, seem to have a strong alpha male desire to roll over the table. Great for value calls.

Sitting at a table at Ho Chunk in Madison, WI. Chatting with a few guys about vacation spots.

guy on my left: pain in the ass to get visas for Europe if you're a felon.

guy on my right: Canada is even worse

me: wtf???

guy on right did 6 years in federal pen for pot smuggling.
guy on left never fessed up but mentioned having drug/alcohol problems when he was young.

Both really nice guys to chat with.

I once played at a table with a guy that had been in and out of prison and was about to go back in like a week. Also at the same table, a guard from that prison.

I'm a convicted felon. Did some time for robbery and attempted robbery about 7 years ago. (cracks a helluva drug) I've been married 6 years, bought our first house 4 years ago, and I'm going to school full time at night right now for welding and doing the stay-at-home-dad thing during the day with my 6 month old.

I may have done something I'm not proud of in my past, but I definitely learned some pretty hard lessons back in the day, and you probably wouldn't know about it unless I told you. I'm the guy thats in tons of pots and I THINK I'm breakeven at the cash tables (then again, I'm a mtter, so...)

I'm going to assume that this story is true - and therefore I just want to wish you good luck with your family, school, and future career. I imagine that it can't be easy.

You're kidding, right? All-cash business attracting criminals? Ya, that can happen. I've played in Vancouver so I do not know that I have been at a table without a criminal.

hehe,

ive played with criminals in homegames. Ill give one example: 5 grams of cocaine on table, 2 arabian whores on this guys lap, unlimited reloads coming out of the whores purse (!) in 500 euro bills, two bills every 5 minutes on average or so, during at least 4 hours. After 4 hours guy passes out at the table (seat 1) leaning against the dealer, crumbs of coke all in front of his seat. At this point, two guys lift him and get him to another room where he pukes all over the bed. The whores left with the purse, im still wondering how much money was still in there.

We had a weekly home game back in the 80's a friend brought a new guy in....I had bad vibes about him as did my buddy, he did introduce us to hold em, talked a big game, talked of playing in Vegas. We left the game after about an hour..... Turns out the guy was wanted and subsequently arrested for kidnapping rape and murder (serial rapist) in the next state over from me. Thing was he had a summer job teaching tennis at the local y... Creepy ya

i was sitting in a local underground game when half the cell phones went off at the table. we changed the tv channel and they were showing a picture of the #1 seat. he was wanted for murder. played with him many a game over the years. he was found not guilty and let out almost a year later.

played many a game with Brother Ben, one of his many online scams. he's doing 7+, which at his advanced age is a tough sentence.

played with many a drug dealer and bookie, a couple porn stars, some bootleggers and growers, several felons, a few on the IRS' **** list, and worse a couple sheister lawyers, the occasional politician, and a dentist who was shady as ****, though most of the dentists are good guys and i've liked most of the lawyers.

played with a guy who was busted for running someone off the road then shooting at him. another was an old guy busted for murder. had a rapist who was a quite likeable guy and didn't give off any red flags. Hollywood couldn't make up the life stories some of these guys have. i used to buy the Slammer sometimes just to see who was in play. it's crazy but none of this seemed particularly threatening or out of the ordinary. everyone was always polite. the biggest *******s are the litigating lawyers and blustery noncriminal white guys, but there's at least one litigating lawyer i think the world of. he may have done a few too many drugs back in the day. a close friend of mine hired him to rep him in a poker charge and gun charge (stupid locked glove box = gun charge) plus a guy left a bud on his floorboard. well his girlfriend was over when the sheriff came knocking. turned out lawyer-we-love forgot the court date, so the sheriff came to take him downtown for failure to appear. my buddy had just taken a Viagra, so he spent two hours in gen holding sporting a blue steel boner. just another day in paradise.
