For example last maximus event #1 a 10+1 had a prize pool of over $50k
yet the guarantee on this one is $15k
The last maximus $530 main event had a prize pool over over $400k yet guarantee on this one is only $200k

Re: CarbonPoker Poker Maximus II Thread - Starts September 6th
IMO, the 2 contributing factors to lower guarantees:
1. Lock leaving Merge
2. Direct schedule conflict with PokerStars WCOOP
I'm not really sure why it was chosen for September, albeit many Merge players are US citizens (w/o access to PokerStars).
I'm surprised the schedule's shorter and has fewer tournaments.
Even though there are more runners in most PLO8 MTTs, there's only 1 on the schedule!? There were more last series...
PLO has 2
HORSE has 2
PLO8 has 1
LHE has 1

Epic fail and proof that Merge doesn't listen to players or care to make good decisions to increase ROW traffic. No longer looking forward to this.

I don't agree that it's proof of that at all. And people still say 'epic fail'?

When it's deserving. Good attempt at subtle sarcasim though, even though I think this schedule does a better job.

Not sarcastic, very real question.
Also, beyond just blanket hating of the schedule, is there any actual feedback that you have?

My feedback is honestly that this schedule stinks overall.
Pros:
1. Still decent guarantees post Lock departure...I understand these.
2. I like that there are still some lower buy-in tourneys.
3. Hardly any turbos like last time...at least from what I can see.
Cons:
1. Still primarily focused on nothing but NLHE and for me, this out trumps all the pros. From the forum comments, everyone wants more variety. There really should be a tourney for every type of game offered by Merge.

I personally could have seen adding a second limit event and maybe another PLO8 as well, but the tournaments selected reflect what our players play. I understand that perhaps the tastes on 2+2 are more diverse, but our player base at large is pretty reasonably reflected in the game variety shown here.

But this mentality is why Merge will never grow any more than it already is. I hate to sound so negative, but I don't get why more and more sites don't follow the Pstars model. Take WCOOP for instance. Follow that schedule with a smaller guarantee model to project what might be played on your site.
The goal of a business shouldn't just be satisfying current customers, it should be attracting new ones and unfortunately, this series won't do that.

Re: CarbonPoker Poker Maximus II Thread - Starts September 6th
I think the worst part of the schedule is that there are very few 100-200$ games. If you are attempting to entice ppl to play on your site with large gtds then $10-$60 games won't generate a big enough prizepool to get someone excited and 500 is too expensive to take a shot and try out a site. You guys really missed the boat by not have a $100 or $200 500k gtd

There are a variety of logical fallacies here. Among them, that just taking WCOOPs schedule/format and simply dividing it by the our player base size. There are many reasons why that is not the optimal strategy for us.

People play NLHE because there isn't anything good in terms of the other games. For PLO and HORSE you guys have 2 gtds/week for them and they aren't even particularly good gtds. Furthermore there are simply no other games in the realm of playability. Personally I would love to play a razz or badugi game but the biggest buy-ins for those is $3.30.

Like I prefaced before, I may have preferred a little more variety in games, but people need to manage their expectations and look at the situation a little bit. Running the X number of NLH games is better for the network(and not just in terms of rake, but in terms of attracting new players), and subsequently our players, than running a Badugi tournament at this point.
We are interested in having a situation where we can expand what's available.

Re: CarbonPoker Poker Maximus II Thread - Starts September 6th
Also, for what it's worth, there is a smaller percentage of NLH events in PMII as there was in the original PM.
