Rakeback is a term used to describe the rebate rewards that some poker sites offer their players. The rebates are calculated as a percentage of the rake paid to the site, hence the term 'rakeback', as you are essentially getting a set percentage of your rake, back.

Typically, rakeback was offered in conjunction with affiliate deals, as a set percentage paid daily, weekly or monthly, depending on the site.

Merge no longer offers 'rakeback' in this way. All rebates are now paid as a part of the VIP program. While essentially calculated the same way as the old style of rakeback, the percentage of rebates paid is directly related to which VIP tier you qualify for each month.
