They figured out what the issue was.
It will be fixed once it finishes.

I think Merge should make the 109c 8K a 109 Freezeout with a 10-12K guaranteed. It generates more rake and creates a larger prizepool for the players. Pretty simple solution.

Re: CarbonPoker.ag Tournament Improvement Thread
I really like the turbo guarantees you have. I'd like to get people's opinion on something I think would be even better.
I understand the concept behind turbos and why people play them and I don't want to change that. They move quite quickly. However, I'd LOVE to see the final table switch to non-turbo. So play the whole thing as a turbo so the 97%+ of people are happy and moved right along, but when the good money is on the line the people remaining get a chance to be rewarded for their efforts and fortune and not have to simply rely on being a card rack.
Late late game, and especially the final table in these plays pretty bad to be honest. It really comes down to who gets dealt the best hands in a series of maybe 20 hands. Even if that was doubled, I think it's be great while still keep the spirit of a turbo.
Cliffs:
Love the turbo MTT's and would like to see the final table switch to regular speed. Feedback?
ps. Any plans for a make a deal function like tilt had?

Re: CarbonPoker.ag Tournament Improvement Thread
Hey Ryan/Chris just wanted you to know that there is a thread in the MTTcommunity about merge tournaments where people have been commenting about changes etc, much like this thread I suppose. Maybe you should stop by there because I think that thread would get more traffic, just as the stars one does in the same forum. Thanks.

I would prefer that players use this thread, as it is already well established, and Merge review it continually.
Feel free to cross post this thread into theirs if you like, or posts from there that you feel are warranted here.

Would really like to see auto-rebuy , add-on button. Having dbl auto rebuy will increase prize pools for rebuys instantly.

Re: CarbonPoker.ag Tournament Improvement Thread
Hey Ryan,
There is a thread in MTTc regarding tournament suggestions at Merge. I posted this there:
Quote:
I don't really understand the "copy Stars" argument. They have what 50x the amount of tournament players and cater to a European crowd. No idea what this even means or why it is being quoted so much. Everything from structure, guarantee, buyin, starting time, late reg time etc is catering to a European crowd.
I think Merge should just try to tighten up their schedule for EST by having some good regular freezeouts starting at maybe 3 EST (with long late registration), some turbos around 5 or 6pm, and then a normal schedule starting at 7pm EST. This gets the European players interested in the early half of the day and the US grinders at night.
So as a random example:
3pm EST (with 2 hours late registration) $55 FO with a 7.5k-10k guarantee
5pm EST (2 hour late reg) $109 10k guarantee
6pm EST (1 hour late reg) $22 turbo 6k guarantee
7pm EST (2 hours late reg for PST) $(some ticket amount here) 10k guarantee
8pm EST <some turbo>
9pm EST <one more 'bigger' freezeout>
10pm EST <turbo>
11pm EST <freezeout with 10-12 minute blinds>
11:30pm EST <turbo>
12am EST <freezeout with 10-12 minute blinds>
A big 5r, 10r, 10 FO, etc. in there would be good too.
It seems like you guys want more tournaments (and sure I'd like them too) but they need to work on getting more people interested before they can build on a schedule.
Cashout speed + a few tournaments each night Stars players will play = healthier tournament economy to build on.
They obviously need to fix rebuys because rebuys are used to generate larger prize pools and when your system for them is horrible it is counterproductive. If they're not going to fix them they should just scrap them for regular freezeouts in a lot of spots.
I haven't played any except $60 satellite to the $530, but it seems like they have satellites to a lot of tournaments? That is hugely important.
I think they should really try to change some things during the tournament series and hope that it sticks come May when traffic spikes and then drops in the summer.

Re: CarbonPoker.ag Tournament Improvement Thread
Less turbos, more deepstack freezeouts, and for the love of god standardize your starting stacks and structures.

Re: CarbonPoker.ag Tournament Improvement Thread
I really dont want to bash Merge on this, I know you guys are trying and the schedule has improved greatly already...
BUT, it has been said many times already, falling on deaf ears maybe... But there is nothing more important to me and alot of other players, than fixing your rebuy tournaments...
It is absolutely insane that you keep ignoring this... pathetic really.. Most regular players paying your rake, play rebuys 30-40% of their entire schedule.. and complain in here.. and nothing gets fixed.
Just so we can go over it again:
1.) Let players rebuy before the first hand.. and at any point in the rebuy period that they are not involved in a hand.
2.) Let players double rebuy when their chips are at 0 at any point.. even after the hand before the break.
3.) Introduce auto rebuy/add-on buttons or something in the software to that effect, that eliminates having to do it manually..
To me, and I'm sure to alot of others, this is the most important issue with any Merge site right now. Just 3 easy fixes, and I believe it will greatly increase rake and field size in rebuys.
Edit: as a positive note and non-whining contribution, I really like to stuctures in the turbo rebuys (7 min levels, no real big jumps) and would like to suggest the small change of 2k starting stacks in them instead of 1.5k, so when you rebuy(before the first hand starts)you would have 4k..

I'm not sure why you feel that they are ignoring the situation.
I have posted before, advising that they are well aware of the issue, but the fix is not a simple one, and is tied in to a number of other processes that make the resolution of the issue a complex one.
They are currently working on getting the issue resolved, but it will take some time.

I understand and thats why I said I really didnt want to bash you guys and everything.. I don't know how hard it is to change these things in the software... it may be more difficult than it sounds..
My frustations just comes from the fact that other, possibly easier, fixes have been made.. as well as new tourneys being added.. and while these things are very good, I just believe this fix will help Merge more in the long run and help them survive after regulation.
Edit: Just spent $100 in a $5 rebuy losing every hand no matter what and get beat before the break and now only get 1500.. everyday it ruins my Equity... Bovada here I come

Yeah, I thought it would be quite a simple fix as well, but when I had a discussion with the guys at Merge on this, they explained that it is tied to a bunch of other procedures that make the change quite difficult.
