5/10 just doesn't run here. All the players who would play that big are playing the 5/5 Omaha mix, which is now running at least three nights a week.
What do you usually play at the Star? Maybe I'll run into you sometime when I'm donking off chips.

Usually 1/3. Sometimes 2/5 if it's running and looks like a good table. I'm mostly there on Thursday nights, and use the same nickname that I use here.

If you see me, give me a "sup bro," and I'll buy you a beer.

I was the donk in seat 9. Didn't see this until just now.

No way, really? On table 9 (or was it 10, whichever wasn't hitting every damned splash pot draw) last Thurs? Small world. FWIW, I didn't have you pegged as a donk. You seemed solid enough that I folded AT to an EP raise from you.

Yeah, table 9 (no splash pots). Would've said something, but like I said, didn't see earlier post until after. See you around man.

Give me a sup bro when you see me. I think I'd recognize you, but I spent a lot of that session in the one and two seats and really couldn't see the nine until I moved, and then I started getting urgent calls from work so was distracted. Finally had to go in. Sigh.

Garick, I occasionally will play the Sunday MTT. Would you be interested in meeting up on a Saturday before you start your session? First drink is on me

How is the Sunday Tourney? Been traveling a lot, so I haven't been in for a while, and have in-laws in town next week, but might have a free weekend or two in July.

Not too bad, it is the same structure as the old Tuesday deep stack tourney they had back in 2014. I played the Sunday about 3 weeks ago and there were about 76 runners. The new Tuesday tourney favors cash game players too much.

Any Saturday in July would work for me so just let me know when you are free, and gl with the in-laws.

In what way, he asked, intrigued? I pretty much never play dailies anymore, as I hate the superfast structures. 40 minute blind levels is my minimum, unless I'm just playing for LOLs, or the value is impossible to pass up.

2 hours of play prior to 7 receives 2k extra chips. I play there beforehand anyway, it allows you to make a mistake basically early.

If it was 40 min blinds, would you be more inclined to play every week? Even going late, till 2am on a Tuesday?
06-23-2015 , 11:13 PM
Meh. I know most rec players prefer fast tournies. I just don't like the crap-shoot of a fast structure. I am a better pushbot than average, but that's like being a fairly tall dwarf. There's much less edge than in deep play.

Such a noob question, but do you buy-in for the full $300 (1/3 cash game)? Is there an advantage to buying in short $100? I know you lose some fold equity, but would it help your image in any way?

Maybe this is a private conversation, but how many regs crush the 1/3 game at the Star, are you one of the crushers, and what level are most players playing on?
06-24-2015 , 01:44 PM
I always buy in full. I feel I have a significant edge over almost all of the players at KS, and I want the maximum effective stacks possible to allow them to make more/bigger mistakes. I do not count on FE much. At 1/3 it is like Leanne Rhymes, all about value (BNL reference).

I don't have enough hours there to know my true WR, but I believe I crush. I'm definitely crushing over my current sample size.

Most players are loose-passive, and playing at about level 1.5. Some are better, some are worse. Some are more aggressive, some more MUBSy, etc. Each V and board is different. For more discussion on strategy, come join us in the LLSNL strategy thread.

Agree with your first statement, but there are those who will rebuy a hundred more vs leaving if they have any chips left.

I am going to speak to someone about changing the later blinds in the tourney.

How long do you think the Sunday tourney will last and what is the starting stack/time of blind levels?

You make it sound like an easy game. I will defiantly check out LLSNL if I have any notable hands to post.

I would say it plays for 6 to 7 hours. You should check the Stars website for the full structure of the deep stack, but I think it's 20min levels, $10K stack for $85 with a $2K add on for $10.

I couldn't figure out to find the info which is why I posted. After you posted, I went back, had an epiphany, and found the info on the structure.

I guess I won't be playing it as I would still have about a three hour drive after and I have to be up around five-thirty the next day.

Ha-ha, definitely understand how that goes. It's a good tournament, but I don't think it is worth a 3 hour drive. Depending on where you are coming from, I would think Oklahoma or KC would have decent options that are closer.

This place still spreading games regularly?
Going to be in town tomorrow and was debating Star or Nillas but would prefer the star unless for some reason PLO runs at Nillas.
I play 1/3 to 5/10 NL, prob won't play big PLO tomorrow even if it goes by some off chance.
1/3 and some cocktails sounds like a better pace

Probably late to the game on this one, but my preferences are Nillas for tournaments (low buyins) and The Star for cash (a lot of fun players on the weekend). Check the Bravo poker app for games that are running at the Star. Go to Nillas facebook or call them to see what is running there. Nillas will usually have a 1/2 or 5/5 PLO game going, but I have only seen 5/5 at the Star and that is somewhat rare during the week.

Miss y'all. I'm on a military deployment. Leave some money in the fishies BRs for when I get back in Feb!

Some decent promos going on right now. They did away with splash pots for awhile, but have brought them back on Thursday nights. They're run in accordance with the NFL game on TV. Tables are split between home team and visiting team.

Splash pots = (If my memory is correct)
$50 per field goal
$60-$80 per offensive TD, depending on PAT success.
$125 per safety (this my be wrong)
$150 per Kickoff return TD
$125 per Punt return TD
$100 per interception/fumble return TD.

They also have Aces cracked on Friday or Saturday nights (I forget which one). When you get Aces cracked you get to peel card decals off this big board with a prize amount from $100 to $500. There are 30 or so cards, one is $500, a couple are $300, a few more are $200 and the rest are $100.

I've seen people play AA pretty funny trying to get them cracked for a jackpot.

Garick, take care and I still owe you that drink when you get back.

Nickname, are you going to go to the Black Friday 8 to 8 deal that they have going? Thinking about going in the AM to better my chances. Also, any updates to your PG&C post?
