I'm in Victoria for a month or so shooting a movie and would love to sit down at a table or two. Anyone hosting anything friendly? As far as I know there aren't any public rooms open in the city or at the casinos?

Posting here cuz Victoria don't have it's own thread...

How is their waiting list situation?
Weekends it can be quite long. Get there by 5PM on a friday and 3-4PM on Saturday/Sunday and you should be fine. It's a small room.

Their website lists it as a 6 table room, is that true? If so, that makes it bigger than at least 2 other local rooms I can think of, lolz.

Yeah 6 tables but they love to run only 3-4. It's tucked into the corner upstairs. I miss the days of the River Rock having 20 tables running with 5/10 and up NLH

Fraser Downs went from, what, like 12 tables to 8 to 5 before closing? How many tables did Starlight have before closing? Hardrock, what, 10 (or was it more?) to now 5? Cascades from 8 to 5?

Saturday November 27th. $450+50, 30 minute levels at Edgewater.

I've never played this event before but I think this month I might give it a shot.

Hey guys,

Looking for a poker buddy interested in developing their micro SNG or MTTSNG game.

I've been playing for a long time, but back online after a long break. I have recently been refining my HUD and trying to get more involved with using other tools to improve my game. Currently looking into developing push/calling hand ranges and getting more accustomed to PT4. Also interested in learning other tools like Equilab, Pokerstove and HRC.

Let me know if you're interested

I can't speak to the good ol days, but compared to what I see/hear about other cities, Van is a PITA to make money in.

In addition to looking for a poker buddy, I'm also getting into NFL Daily Fantasy. If anyone in Van is into learning more about that game/industry, let me know. I'm pretty new at it, and hoping to improve and start winning. Been on Fan Duel a couple weeks now, and trying to learn more about improving my lineups.

It probably is. Losing with quad 88's is extremely rare.

What are the waiting lists like though?
How long do you have to wait for the seat at the RR these days?

Well last I saw the bbj was at 720k, so wait times will be long.

I've always preferred Edgewater's BBJ. Easy to get and it's usually over 100k so a decent payday.

I prefer the Edgewater BBJ too. It actually hits with some regularity. Several times this year I've seen hands where there was an out or 2 on the river to hit it, and I saw one hand where a player folded JJ preflop against heavy action from QQ and AA and the board ran out AQJJX. And if you play there a few nights you're bound to see some hands that come close. But the quad 8's beat is so hard to hit that even boards making it possible are rare. In the 250 hours I've played in those rooms I haven't even once seen a hand where the river could've made it happen.

People who change where they play and will wait hours to play at a room with a high BBJ are pretty lol to me. I mean, that beat happens on average maybe 2 or 3 times per year in a 5 table poker room? I guess the appeal is that once it gets this big, even the table share is a solid year of income for many people.

I haven't played at the Edge or the Rock since the poker games went from 1/2 NL to 1/3 NL. Has anyone noticed any noticable differences in play since that change? Or is everything else the same at a slightly higher stake?
