Seems like I'm getting shafted staying at Harrahs, looks like I might not be giving a lot of action there when I go out there...

Like in AC, I like just being able to go downstairs and play instead of wandering around...But I aint complaining...they are comping me 5 days and I only have to pay for Saturday at $70+ tax!

Excited to head out there, haven't played outside of Atlantic City!

I'd love some info on the Gold Strike's summer event, if anyone has it.

July 29th-Aug 12th. We will be signing the contract hopefully this week with NAPT. Will post here when its a done deal. It's being advertised as the WPO event for now but an NAPT rep is in town as we speak. All thats left it crossing t's and dotting i's.

Great, thanks for the confirmation of dates. Hopefully I'll see a schedule of events soon (either here or on the Gold Strike's website).

The schedule's out -- in fact, Chipr gave me a hard copy. I infer it's not dependent on this NAPT deal.

I misplaced the hard copy but I'll post it if I see it.

I was in Tunica from last Thu until Sun. I called the Shoe's poker manager and got a poker rate of $30 weeknight and $50 weekend. They didn't have any rooms for the weekend at the Shoe, so they put me at the Terrace Hotel (across the street from Harrah's). It's only about a 5 min. drive to the Shoe from there, so no big deal.

I played 1/3 mostly, and there were all sorts of games running...1/3, 2/5 NLHE, several different stud games, PLO, and even an Omaha hi/lo game on Saturday IIRC.

The 1/3 wasn't tough...I started out well, then misplayed one hand and got sucked out in another to cost me a large chunk of my poker $$ I'd brought. I decided to play the $65 tournament on Friday and chopped it 3 ways for about $680, so that was a nice recovery.

You can get a food comp any time you want it, the dealers are good mostly, and the games are profitable. I will be back there for sure.

Thanks for the update Chipr! I've got a call into Rita to get some info on the room availability.

Anyone have any idea on what the room rates weekday/weeknight will be during the tourney? Looking to make the trip with 3 other buddies.

Ok getting pretty bizarre I think there is some confusion with the dates.

Last night I called and confirmed with someone in the poker room that the dates were July 29 - Aug. 12. I was transferred over to Rita's extension to book a room and left her a message. Someone from her office called today but I can't remember the lady's name. She was very nice, but honestly very clueless. She did not know what the "WPO" nor what the "World Poker Open" was when I said I wanted to get some room rates. She told me "we are having some sort of tournament in July....maybe that is it." I was speechless. Finally she told me to hang on and she asked Rita if the World Poker Open was the event in July which Rita confirmed. Great, we are getting somewhere!

I asked her if the dates were the 29th - 12th and she said no. The dates were the 27th - 4th. That seemed VERY strange, so I asked her to be sure and she said that she had an official date for the tourney in front of her. Ok. That ruined all the plans we'd made to go 4th - 9th. I told her I'd have to look at the calendar with all the guys in my group going and I'd call back.

So tonight I call the poker room and talk to Will in the poker room, who has treated me great on my past trips. Super nice guy. I explained to him the confusion and he says the dates he has are the 22nd - 4th. So....that is the third set of dates I've gotten but I do trust Will. I'm not sure if our group will be able to swing those dates or not, I'll have to ask everyone and see.

Oh and the poker room rates I was quoted during the tourney were $103.25/weekend and $70.25/weekdays which includes tax and the resort fee.

Chipr if you've got any more info that would be great. Also, any news about the NAPT?

Can anybody confirm that the 20/40 LHE game has been running on the weekends at the Horseshoe? It was a bit hit and miss when I was there in February.

2/5 NLH Shoe and Strike (Shoe is the busiest)
1/3 NLH Shoe, Harrah's and Sam's
1/2 NLH Strike
1/2 NLH Hollywood but usually dead

Sams is having a $25,000 guaranteed $190 tourney Saturday 08/14 at 11 am, will probably draw 200 players. This will cause them to be very busy Saturday as people bust out and then play cash.

Yea the Sams tourney should be good. Now that I live out here, I hit the casinos everyday. When I first moved out here, I didn't have a place to stay so I stayed at the Treasure Town Inn on Casino Strip Resort Blvd. 29 bucks a night as long as you pay by the week, otherwise 49.95 a night.

I love it here, I moved out of Florida (before July 1) to come here and play poker. Not really a good cash game player but I am working on it at 1/2 NL.

I live in Horn Lake and there are two disc golf courses and one on the way to the city of Tunica at Arkabutla Dam. I say I love it now, but this Florida boy will probably hate it when winter hits.

Which one is your "home" casino?

1. Gold Strike
2. Hollywood (tourneys are quite beatable)

I have yet to play at the Shoe, Harrah's or Sam's Town.

Trying to get businesses started, don't get much time.

Outside of a tournament series, when and where do 2-5 NL Holdem games run? How consistent are they? General number of tables when they run?
