Max BI $500 @ 2/5? I think I remember it being $300 @ 1/3, i.e. 100 BB -- same @ 2/5? That would be a shame, IMO ... every room should go uncapped like GS.

GS is uncapped at all levels, Horseshoe is $300 for 1/3 but is uncapped for 2/5 and it often plays pretty deep at the shoe.

Really? I have a generally positive impression of the dealers @ GS ... some of them are obviously not as good, but Josh in particular is really good, I've always thought -- very fast and very professional.

How many cash game tables do they have going on weekends?

They usually have a nl after noon on Friday and maybe 2 games sat/sun.

Sam's tourney report... some of this will be ~estimates but close
220 buy in : 25k guaranteed : 30 minute lvls
~210 players : ~$37k pool?
paid top 16 (~430-550)
real pays @7+
1st 14k
2nk 7.5k
was chopped at ~7 players.

Live action was pretty groovy. I think maybe 4-5 300nl games before with absolute gambool mindsets (at least mine was (freeroll!)) and 4-5 after.

I heard the players were even softer than at the shoe mag classic. Having played a couple of satellites over there I thought, "lol-really?" as there wasn't any serious competition in those. Unfortunately I can't seem to win any 70-30 match ups for all my chips.

I think there was even 'extra gamble' from the guys wanting to stack-up-quick OR busto-get-to-shoe-main-event.

I agree there are some bad dealers, but most of the dealers at GS are good imo.

There's talk of trying to get a PLO game started at the Horseshoe on Fridays after noon. Anyone interested in this should contact Lisa (shoe manager) and express an interest.

Specifically 1-3 or 2-5 PLO @ ~5pm or hopefully sooner...

The young Asian guy is a very good dealer too. He was at my table other day at the start of a tournament and some old clown says "I wish you would slow down and stop dealing so fast, I wanted to play a while". Ha I'm a like good God where do these people come from

LOL. Send the old clown to Sam's Town. He'll be happy with the speed of play there.

Yes, I think dealers in town are generally uninspired across the board. They seem totally uninterested in improving hands per hour. I suggest this is due to management and what I call 'zombie tipping' which is when people just mechanically tip bad dealers.

Here's an example...

Player 1: Uh... you just pushed my pot to the wrong guy...
Dealer: Oh did I? Whoops... sir, I need that pot back.
Player 2: What what?!
(cluster F ensues taking 3 minutes+)
Finally pot gets pushed to the correct player.... wait for it...
Meeeehhhhh (<< zombie noise) --- chunk goes the tip from player 1.
wait... WHAT?!?!

This actually happened. In fact, it's a regular occurance. I've even seen a dealer muck the deck and push the pot while there's still a live player. The pot was then split because the other 50 cards were washed and ... omfg they both tipped. Really?

No room to complain if you're tipping guys getting out 12 hands per down and making 7+ mistakes per shift. (when a dealer asks, 'who's it on?' count that as a mistake imo.)

what's the poker rates at the horseshoe and goldstrike these days?
Tunica Quote
12-26-2011 , 08:38 AM
I think its something like 35/70 or close to that. Goldstrike just put their bad beat jackpot back to aces full of something, I wonder if their traffic has picked up any because of that.

Gs poker rate is $40-$60. Traffic did pick up when the bad beat changed to aces full of 10's. It was hit 2 days ago. Its been busy over the holidays so far.

1/3 cash games and daily tournaments have been the best I've seen all year @ Harrah's during this past week. Holidays have drug in alot of "slot zombies" , (tourists), that have been making their way into the poker room.

Obviously this will be short lived until the WSOP-C makes it back---

Any special tournaments in Tunica for New Year's Eve? Or just the regular schedule?

Just played at the Shoe this weekend for the first time in ages. Having played elsewhere, i was bowled over by how great it was to be back in a casino where the dealers understand the games they're dealing, the management mostly knows how to stay out of the dealers' and players' way, comps are good, and drinks are free.

Best example: In a 4/8 limit game, a player goes all in on the turn for $6. Next player asks how much he can raise to. $14, says the dealer. Player raises to $14. Couple of people cold call. Dealer makes the side pot. After the river and showdown, the pots get pushed the right place.

If you don't understand why i'm marveling, you don't play where i've been playing lately. If your first thought was, "Wait, i missed the part of the narrative about the floor call, let alone the other contradictory floor ruling" then i'll see you at the tables at Greektown!

I'm trying to learn blackjack. I understand the basics of counting, but really need someone who can give me the ins and outs of where to play. I got hit by variance tonight and still licking my wounds. If there is a forum you could recommend, or a player I might be able to discuss options with, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Has anyone else noticed the comps being super-easy at Harrahs? The casino pit has given me a handful of free meals at 37, a comped room, buffet comps, etc. My pit area play has been pretty low.

I noticed that to. Even if you didn't have a comp room you could get one for 20 bucks there last month.
