The Wednesday night O8 tournament is $50 buy-in, they've been getting 4 tables in that. The Omaha players loved it.

It interested me too (not a lot of chance to play a live O8 tournament), but I can't make it Wednesday night at 7.

Does anyone still play here? I collect $5 chips from everywhere I play, but I lost this one and won't realistically be in Tucson again.

Are there any trusting players who would be willing to grab me a great-condition $5 chip and mail it to me in Baltimore? I'll pay you, plus postage, any way you want!

Thank you!

Why on earth do they make people "qualify" to play the $25k free roll? I'm not some nitty retired dude, who can spend FIFTY hours getting killed by a rake for the opportunity to play a decent tournament. CDS just needs to let people buy into the tournament. Maybe give the regulars a discount, but of course they already paid for it playing for for 50+ hours. DDC and CDS need to put on better tournaments. They should try an end of month tournament like CAZ. I know lots of ppl who would play weekend tournaments if they had a bigger pool of players, Not the same 20 grinders passing their money back and foward to each other waiting on a BBJ.

Maybe those regs don't want people like you playing in their tournament.

The principle behind freerolls using hour requirements for entry is so the cardroom can earn money on the cash game business leading up to it from people trying to qualify.

Yeah but the fields are so small. Not many people play there that regularily to qualify. The 25k is the only tournament with a decent prize in southern AZ. Every now and then desert diamond and casino del sol will have a charity event that draws bigger fields. The toys for tots christmas event. Many peoply I know just drive to CAZ to play the end of month tourney's and the deepstack just to get a good game. A couple of years ago, del sol had a HPT event. That went to route 66 casino in New Mexico because the turnout was so bad.

In addition there NL games are way better than del sol, as probably half the hands are straddled (mississippi straddles are allowed). Really good action. PM me if your interested.

Also, Diamond has run 2/5 to 500 recently a couple times on Fridays kinda after the 15/30 starts to slow up. If anyone ever wants people to start a 2/5 game at either casino I am down.

I'm in Tucson and wondering if this home game is still active by chance?

I agree 50 hours is kinda excessive. Maybe lower it to like 30 make it reasonable for weekend grinders. How is the structure for the thursday night deepstack tourny at CDS? Worth playin? thanks

They have 40-50 players on a good day and the final table ALWAYS chops.

I've determined that the deepstack tournament is the only thing worth playing at CDS. When it comes to the cash game, the rake is too high, and there are too many calling stations. For instance, the other day in a 1/2 game I raised it to $12 pre with 99. I got 5 callers! That's awesome when you flop a set, but the other 90% of the time you are just throwing away your money. Very few players there are capable of folding a straight draw or a 4 flush, even with 1 card to come. That actually happened last time I played cash. Raised it to $10 pre with AJ. 2 callers. Flop came J92, and I bet the pot (about $30), both called. Turn was a 6. I went all in, BOTH CALLED! River was a K and one player gleefully threw in the rest of his stack, and turned over Q, 10.

The good players over there I can count on 1 hand. Sure, you can beat a single calling station all day, but a table full of them is near impossible to beat.

I recommend you take this concern to the correct strategy forum, and many there will explain to you why this somewhat common belief is completely wrong. It's never a bad thing when they play bad, and if you are adjusting at all correctly, then your EV will be much higher than if they didn't play so badly.

Sorry for the late response. Yes, Thursday at 7 PM is the deepstack tournament. Cash games pretty much go dead during that time. Usually 1 table of 1/2 and another of 2/4. Weekends are busy. Usually have a 2/5 table.

BTW, Greg, since your advice I have read some more, and am making better (read based) adjustments. Good to hear you are coming to town. I live on a 5 acre ranch that is just 15 minutes from the casino and was born and raised here in Tucson. Feel free to PM me if you want to hang out.

I believe it's Feb. 14-17th you will be at CDS?

I will be appearing at CDS each evening Feb. 14-16. I know I'm in that deepstack tournament at 7pm on Thursday, probably with a bounty. Not sure yet what they have planned the other two nights. But whatever it is, I'll be there. And at the rock and mineral shows each day with my wife. Got to stock up on fossils and such. ;-)

Thanks, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

Congrats to the 10 that chopped the tournament with Greg. I didn't get to play at his table, but technically, he was my opponent in the tournament. I once played with Jamie "Confirmed Busto" Gold in an NLOP tournament online ... so it's actually the second World Champion I have played against.

Greg is a super nice guy. For instance, when I asked someone if they would take a picture, he put his arm behind me. Maybe it's a he knows, that I know, that he knows ... but I don't like random people touching me, would get sick of it if I was famous ... and he put his arm behind me. Super nice guy ... wish I coulda spent more time talking with him, but of course he was swamped.

The CDS tournament went on to alternates. I believe there were about 135 participants. Ended up chopped 10 ways. A guy named Dave collected the bounty and an autographed fossil, from Mr. Raymer.

Anyway, Greg ... hope you had a great time, we all enjoyed having you here, and please come back again next year. Maybe next year, let me take you and the wife to dinner one night.

Best,

Adam

Photochop potential?

My hand was actually on his ass ... nicely squeezable. I'm totally straight but ... if you get a chance to feel Raymer's ass ... it's nice. I think that's why he looks uncomfortable here.

One of you kids sat down next to me, and my $700 stack at a 1/2 table today and yelled out "TC! Table change."

Smart.

The sharks are hungry at CDS. Please send in more fish.

One kid tonight ... prolly read this and knows who I am, I was about to leave, re-raises me from $5 to $17. I re-raised him to $50. You should be able to calculate my range between your legs at this point, kid called with AK. Later said, he was real close to shoving pre.

That woulda been bad for him. What woulda been worse would be the case ace on the flop.

I had aces. Showed him.

That being said, there is a lot more action in that room, than there used to be. A lot of the same characters, but also a lot of new ones. Some, not around anymore. Bill, I hear is playing a lot of Chess, which I am sure he is awesome at ... and Ray ... since his WSOP cash ... nobody has seen him. Hope the dissertation is going well.

BTW, thanks very much to Greg Raymer and others here at 2+2, for helping me transform my cash game. Calling stations ... now I love them.
