Pali is right. Technically you can't spread pure PLO. The PLO8 games that used to run and Casino Del Sol were 1-2 blinds or 2-3 blinds with a $500 cap per bet. The max buy in was 100 x the big blind and a lot of people bought in short, so the $500 limit seldom came in to play. The stacks seldom got so big that two players had over $500.

I'm not saying that the 500 cap was the problem, I'm saying that the pot-limit betting structure isn't codified here either in Arizona.

That's the information I've gotten from floor persons scouring their books at other tribal establishments.

We all know we can't bet more than the table bet maximum, it's the whole limiting it to the pot thing that's not in the books...

I can back up this info as being 100% correct.

...which raises an interesting question.

Has this game been spread at DD or DS in the pseudo-NL era?

I'd bring enough people to start a game (and with enough buyins to keep it running) to a casino here if they'd spread it.

...and I'll run pretty much any low-limit PLO game at my place anytime

It has been run on a regular basis as PLO8 at Del Sol. It isn't currently being played there, but there is usually a list for it on the weekends. The only reason it doesn't go is that the regulars prefer a 4-8 mix that includes hi-lo stud.

In addition there NL games are way better than del sol, as probably half the hands are straddled (mississippi straddles are allowed). Really good action. PM me if your interested.

Also, Diamond has run 2/5 to 500 recently a couple times on Fridays kinda after the 15/30 starts to slow up. If anyone ever wants people to start a 2/5 game at either casino I am down.
Rat Pack -

I'm interested in the home game (PM sent) and also would be glad to help support a regular 2-5 game. When I've played at Casino Del Sol I've always started a 2-5 list but only rarely has it gotten off (maybe 3-4 times over the past 6 months). If there are folks on here who would want to play 2-5, or even better the 3-5 with 1K max buy like CAZ, maybe we could set a designated night or two each week. Of course I'm not sure either Del Sol or DD would allow the CAZ 3-5 format, but we could ask.

We are talking about getting a 2/5 game going tonight at one of the casinos. Any of you guys want to play?

In town on business, I'm going to DD tonight. Brought my usual nightly for 1/2, but I'm up for 2/5 also. I'll be on the list.

just so you know DD doesn't get 1/2 NL going for sure. Del Sol will though. DD is more of the higher LHE casino, Del Sol more NL. However, if we bring the 2/5 to a casino tonight it will probably be DD since Del Sol is renovating the poker room and only running 6 tables. However, sounds like alot of the peeps are wanting to run a home game tonight. PM me if you want to come.

Del Sol is kind of hilarious. The tournaments there aren't very competitive from my experience, but there is definitely a group of solid regulars who play cash and the tourneys.

They run some sort of league with the tournaments. Tournaments almost always chop, particularly if they are a league tourney. Case in point: $40 NLHE tourney was chopped evenly 9 ways on Tuesday the 26th, even though the chipleader had around 45k and the lowstack had around 5k. Blinds were 1k/2k with 200 ante at this point...yet everyone wanted to chop to secure league points. Nobody wanted to play 5-6 more hands to try and bounce the lowstack, and everyone took home the same amount.

Del Sol has finished the first half of the renovation and the larger portion of the room is now open. It is nice, but there is a problem. By enlarging the area for the podium and behind it they have squeezed the back tables on the west end of the room. It is really tight for the dealer changes and security to change the drop boxes. They had the change the tables from an east-west to north-south direction. One of the tables is also too close to the cage. I'm not sure if any of this is fixable because a floorman told me that the tables are wired into their positions. There are now seven tables instead of six.
On the plus side they've dropped the roof, but not as low as the back half of the room. This should make climate control a little easier.
It is a lot nicer than the h-hole in the back that we were playing in. Now they will fix the other part and raise the roof there.

Yes, granted the new room has issues (surprise), it is definitely a step up from the lunchbox they crammed in everyone before!

The expanded room will reopen in less than two weeks. They will be having additional high hand ticket drawings on the weekends through October.

The new room has opened. There are 13 tables as before, but they are placed north to south. They have fixed the spacing of the tables to some degree by moving the tables a little. Some of them are still close together, but it is better.
The room is better looking. The back where the tournaments are played still gets a little hot. There are still some minor glitches. The sliders on the chairs fell off, but they are fixing them. The chairs are much more comfortable. The board doesn't correctly reflect the table numbers where the games are located. The IT people have to fix that, but the people I talked to aren't very confident that it will get done.

I'm not sure that it was worth the aggravation from the construction, but the room is a slight upgrade. There are more tables running, which is a function of the new room, some people coming back to town after the summer, and some people coming over from Desert Diamond.

I overheard a couple of Diamond regulars discussing moving the Friday 15-30 limit game to Del Sol. They were negotiating with the floor on the time payment amount. Getting that game at Del Sol would certainly improve the room since there are almost never any limit games over 3-6. It would also further erode the Diamond's market share. The Diamond would still have the 4-8 Omaha hi-lo game which is killed by the Stud 8 O8 mix at Del Sol. They also would probably have more 3-6 and some 4-8 hold em.

(MODS this should be moved to the Regional Communities subthread.)

Just follow up on Ragnar's post. Del Sol poker room finally reopened and the biggest upside is finally there are no capacity issues. Friday night is packed with action tables, with a deep and loose 2/5 game and 4 1/2 games. Saturday is not bad either.

Just a shout out to Tucson player, I've been trying to get a PLO hi game going for a couple of weeks now. I almost always play on Friday night and Saturday. When I get there I'll start the list, so jump in! I'm looking to start 1/3 $100-$300 BI game.

Not to be confused with the PLO8 game that runs occasionally at Del Sol. I played in that game regularly and we can get it going occasionally. What hurts the game is that the popularity of 4/8 mix O8/S8 that really hurts the PLO8 game. That's why I'm trying to start a PLO hi game.

The hotel has opened at Casino Del Sol. There is a new steakhouse. The buffet is set to open in December. There is also a new parking garage. They brought in two Starbucks as well.

I don't think this will affect the poker room too much, but adding amenities is always a good thing.

The new hotel certainly pulled in some additional traffic, which is great. Starbucks is great too, while I'm not a big fan of Starbucks, it sure beats the crappy coffee they serve in the poker room.

Last night there was a wild 2/5 game along with a 1/3 plo8 game. The chips were flying!

What time do the 2-5 and 1-3 PLO usually start?
Tucson, AZ Quote
11-20-2011 , 02:37 PM
Lately the $2/5 NLHE and/or the $1/3 PLO8 have been reliably starting at around 8pm Fridays. Sometimes Thursday too because of the deep stack tournament at 7pm. As players busting out, the game sometimes gets under way at around 9pm.

I've been meaning to play in that.

There is a new Omaha H/L tournament at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. They are trying to get the Omaha players from the Diamond to relocate their game.
