I played the 9 AM, $15 Limit Omaha tourney this morning. You musta been sleepin. 3 tables ... I, at 42, mighta been the youngest guy there, that wasn't up all night.

There was one guy, already tilted by a calling station at my table from the earlier cash game .... lost to her playing 1/2, and gave me lots of free info on her, then busted out. Mostly a bunch of old farts that don't know how to look at their cards .... I was in the 3 seat, so I had a good view .... but there were times I was looking at my hand, knowing a lot of cards that were already gone, and I wasn't wearing sunglasses. With 10 minute rounds, and no breaks, we were coloring up 1k chips by 10:30.

I rivered a boat with a KK hand where I flopped a set, was Kings full on the river and busted a straight that was committed.

My first ever live Omaha tourney ... or game. Period.

I took first. TWO SCOOPS!

To be fair, I played a lot of Omaha, Razz and HORSE torneys when I had access to PS and FTP, but first time playing LIVE Omaha ... ever. I like it .... but I am an action junkie.

Now you should go for the Wednesday night Omaha tournament with the big boys and girls.

That Thursday Night Deepstack NLH is just crushing the guarantee. Best game in town. I'll be there for sure.

I'm done with the Sunday-Tuesday as well. I know I've said this before, but I really mean it this time. I've said it on the internet--those declarations are binding!

They had to pull Chen out of playing in the Omaha game last night to deal another table in the tournament at Del Sol. It was like 70+ ppl. Maybe more with alternates. I got crippled when I made a good call against a bluff that rivered an ace. Came back a little bit, but in late position with A,Q off I went all in hoping to steal the blinds, or force the BB who was also the big stack, to see it as a profitable call, and I might be ahead .... but the SB (Mike) had A,A .... so he went over the top, then the BB called with J, 10 off. Mike had me covered. Aces held up. I was out.

I dunno how it finished. Big crowd though. Big game. $85 and first is a couple grand.

I'll be back.

ETA: The free buffet sucked as usual. Salad, hot dogs and these little hockey puck sloppy joe slider things. Cream of broccoli soup. I tried them all. The salad was good, but it's not hard to chop fresh vegetables. Could use some croutons and bacon bits.

I am exhausted so I will keep this short.

We started 1/3 PLO8 at around 7pm, unfortunately the game broke rather quickly. Then started a 2/5 and the chips were flying! At one point we had about $8k on the table. We saw a $1900 pot and a $1500 one. It was full for the most part, and we played 5-handed for a little it until Eddie finally gave up. (not eddie e, the other Eddie)

It was fun to play a little PLO8 though.

New to town and would like to get involved in local scene. I live in Tucson, looks like i am equally far from all the casinos in town, which room is getting the best NL action or 20/40 Limit games? What nights can i expect to find a 2/5 game in town? anyone do home games?

20-40 is pretty dead. Desert Diamond usually has a game on Friday morning. It sometimes holds up into the evening, but it often breaks after a few hours.

Casino del Sol usually has a 2-5 spread psuedo no limit game on Friday nights. Other than those two it is very sporadic.

Just to add a bit more. There is 1-2 spread limit every day. During the week the game starts at 11:00 a.m. It starts earlier on the weekend. Multiple games usually run all day and until well after midnight. (There is only one game for a while at 7:00 p.m. most of the time due to tournaments.) Sometimes the game holds overnight.

2/5 has been running a lot on Friday and Saturday nights lately. As for 20/40, I recommend going to desert diamond on Friday MORNING (wish I am kidding, but I am not), Game starts around 9am I believe. Try to make it once and you can get to know the other regulars. I was told they are trying to move the game to del sol and to a different day/time.

The 2-5 ran again Saturday - started around 7/7:30 was still running when I left at 1am. Sure a lot more interesting than 1-2, and I can't believe there are not enough players in Tucson to keep this going at least one night a week.

Same thing tonight. We had a strong game, with a full game and a list. I just left at around 2:30 and this Mexican guy can't wait to take my seat. Action are alright.

Surprisingly the 2/5 has been going on Saturdays last couple of weeks, hope it keeps up!

Casino del Sol will be closed Thursday April 5-Sunday April 8. This is the normal Easter break. The tribe considers the holiday especially sacred. There was some talk that they would stay open due to adding the hotel, but they elected not to do that.

My slogan for the casino has always been "24-7, 361." But this year is leap year so it is "24-7, 362."

Del Sol players often check out the Diamond at this time, or go to Casino Arizona. I'm taking a break!

2-5 game, 100-500 buyin, seems to be going regularly on Saturdays. I'll try it again tonight - pretty lively game last Saturday.

does anyone think they would play a bigger weekly or bi weekly tournament at Del Sol? like something 100$+ buy in?

or maybe some sort of WSOP sat. or lamer tournament?

i just moved down here and played at Del Sol a few times now, their seems to be a really strong local following. Everyone knows everyone, which is cool but i fear the bigger game wont have to much of a cycle. Would it be hard for people to pony up 100$-150$ tournney

could we petition the poker room to run these events?

otherwise i am enjoying the 2-5 game there, the few times i played in it their was some good action and people willing to invest into the game.

i would say 50/50 loose/nit players

The Thursday night is the closest thing they have to a +100 with an $85 buy in. It has been doing pretty well. I don't thing that they'd go for a regular bigger buy in tournament until after the summer. Things slow down quite a bit as snowbirds leave, and regulars play out of town. You could try to get it started in October or November. I think there is a demand, but the timing for starting it would be better then.

$2/5 at Del Sol has been going on the whole weekend! I played about 30 hours over fri, sat and sun. The game is for the most part great with two action players fueling the actions. Glad to see the game picking up momentum!

Is their no home game action in Tucson at all!!!! It would seem like Tucson has a lot of money and an Old West backbone to have a substantial poker following. I live all the way in the foothills and hate the idea of driving 50 minutes to Del Sol. Especially since 1-2 is typically the biggest game they have.

It would be awesome if someone would start a 2-5 + home game more central (or up in the hills). I'd be interested and if anyone knows of a game that does exist like this feel free to PM me.

There are some Foothill home games. The biggest one I knew about broke up recently. I don't live in that area and don't know any details, but if you hang around Del Sol for a while you can probably find out.

Del Sol is going to raise the buy-in on the Deep Stack tournaments to $100. In June they will be spread on Wednesday and Thursday. (Except for Wed. June 27, that week it will be spread on Tuesday and Thursday. If you make a final table you qualify for a $20,000 guaranteed WSOP main event satellite on June 30. The guarantee on the individual tournaments will be $5000.

I was told by someone in the know at Del Sol that Desert Diamond is relocating the poker room within the Nogales Highway Casino and cutting it down to 8 tables. Can any Diamond regular confirm this?

The 2-5 is a good game most nights, mix of player types. It has been running Friday, Saturday and some Sundays, not sure about weeknights. Usually gets off late afternoon to early evening. I usually play until 2am or 3am and it's still going strong at that time.

Maybe one of the regulars who visit this thread can clarify which nights the game runs.

I'm not sure what your definition of ABC play is so can't say how effective it will prove to be - you can have fun finding that out.
