Granted I'd play later, so maybe he re-loads a few times, but night after night he'd cash out 2Gs or so. I think I've seen him showdown a hand maybe 3 times in my life.

He's very good, and a decent guy.

He was a machine.
I see him play 5-10 at Lumiere when I'm there on Tuesday (I think), I hear he does well.

He always had so much money at the 2-5 table, and he's always do his patented huge raise preflop move.

Bets $30
Calls $30
Calls $30
Then Adams would make it $150, and pick up $90. Seemed like he did that once a round or every other round.
And if someone called him, he'd be around $300 on the flop no matter what. So you knew you're getting involved with about $400, and if you just sat down with $500 you'd better have KK or AA.

Ameristar has been dead lately with mostly 1 sometimes 2 1/3 nl games b/c Harrahs bad beat is 315k. Hopefully Ameristar will get some action back when the Heartland Poker Tour comes to Ameristar in November. It's funny how people state that Lumiere's nl game is so loose every time I go it seems really tight and nitty. I must just be at the wrong table. Harrahs 2/3 game is real good and juicy when they play it, plays like the old 2/5 game. I like that game and can't stand the 1/2 games at Harrahs. I agree with that list but wouldn't put Kirby 4th. Kyle is definitely better at PLO than NL and vice versa for John Adams. Pat Walsh is hands down the best all around poker player in STL. Little Tony is a really good nl player when he doesn't drink but gets lucky like John Adams.

I think the 2-3 goes all the time. I've been there only like 5 times since it opened, and it was always running. Actually most of the times I had to play 1-2 because there was a massive list, probably the weekend.

Those guys you have listed are all very talented, but there are many many more that have been playing at a high level in St. Louis for years. We all know who is who in the zoo. I would not want to make a list at all, but if I did I would want one with a whole lot more names on it. : )

No, I know, I would just say Pat is the best PLO player and then Kyle and then John A is the best NLHE player.

ameristar last night 45$ 7 pm tourney. 5k chips 20 min. levels. i was thinking nice tourney, then found out no 400-800 level. down to 3 tables, dealer deals out all cards, utg folds, i shove, TD comes running over and kills the hand. throws seat tokens on table and tells us to move. wtf? how can you stop a hand like that? or am i overreacting over a cheap tourney that the casino really doesn't care about?

I'm looking into moving into the area. Any suggestions on some decent apartments that are relatively within the area? I drove through the town of St. Louis not too long ago... didn't get to stay long, but I just loved the "set up" if you will. #1 it is a great sports town, and #2 casinos are within shouting distance. Can it get any better?

As of last friday BBJ at Harrah's was at 340k.

Room was packed btw, which was nice to see. 20-40, 1-2-5 PLO, 2 tables of 2/3, and tons of 1/2 and 3/6 of course.

Apparently the BBJ at Harrahs would have been hit twice already if not for super nits folding suited connectors to a standard raise.

I was there for one of those terribad folds. One guy certainly did not win friends and influence people when he had just come back from the bathroom and was dealt in and he said "I am glad you guys didn't hit it if I was going to miss out anyway." LOLz He never did figure out why everyone at the table thought he was a jerk for saying that.

They also gave the guy a hard time that made the $160K fold for $20 or whatever.

I will read this entire thread but it would be nice if some cool local saint louis 2+2ers would simply PM me regarding which rooms to play in, possible meet-ups, etc.

Possibly I might go there as soon as next weekend, the 9th-ish or so.

Basically I won't have a car and will need a room (not necessarily in a casino). Preferably cheep. Need advice on food, rake, comps, sushi bars in town, transportation and whether summer or winter combat boots are more appropriate for the locals.

I'm not desperate to play tho so if it's just a crappy weekend to be there I will simply wait for a better situation. At the moment I'm not very far away so almost any weekend would be fine.

Possibly a 2+2 gathering / mini-gathering too.

A mini -- "Magoofest" -- in St Louis poker rooms?
ZOUNDS !!
You know - there actually are some real "magoos" who play poker in the St Louis poker rooms.

I could meet-up on the following Friday -- Oct 16. Would be glad to drive you around to the 3 poker rooms.

After all - I still owe you big time for that primo table assignment upstairs at the LV Magoofest 2005. You introduced me to Dynasty, Photoc and a bunch of other degens.

If you like baseball, the Cardinals will be hosting N.L. Divisional Playoff games Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th (if necessary) vs. the L.A. Dodgers.

Hotel rooms will be at a premium but downtown will be hopping.

"Irish" Leroy Haley, former WBC light welterweight boxing champion. Trained by the legendary Eddie Futch.

I'd also be interested in whether he's still in the area.

Well I'm not into baseball but if there's beer involved I might try going to a game sometime. However there are events going on here that are precluding me from leaving next weekend so it's gotta be the 16th-18th of Oct.

Feel free to join us that weekend tho. Bring your boots

Mini-Magoo-Fest thread is here

Coming to town tomorrow night, staying at ameristar...will be playing after midnight tomorrow, and most of the day thursday....is harrahs or Ameristar better? Would like to play either something above 1-2NL (up to 5-10) or like 10-20 limit. Will any of these games be running or will it all be 1-2? Thanks
