Also, I'm driving from about 2 hours away. Is there any way to get comped/discount on a room?

The WSOP-C schedule was released and St. Louis is finally on the list. It will be April 1 - 10. I've played in Tunica and had a good time. The cash games are always great at these events and the tourny buy-ins are low enough for anyone to play. Plus tons of satellites.

Which casinos around St. Louis have a BBJ?? I know Lumiere does, but what about the others? Not that I think I will hit it, but you always seem to get better action when a BBJ is involved.

Harras and Ameristar all have BBJ's. The Lumiere's is at about 66K, I don't know what the others are at right now, but I think Harras' is highest.

This is a typical response to the way he acts but he creates action and most players want to bust him to shut him up.

Ha, classic, I love playing that guy, he's pretty easy to play against.

I am a regular at Lumiere these days. I used to be a Harrah's reg, but the action there is absolutely terrible. Nits, nits and more nits. That's it. Of course, I don't play the weekends much, so can't speak for that action. Lumiere has by far the best action. Good players and bad. Probably going to be down at Lumiere this afternoon. Nice thread!

I guess my biggest beef about Lumiere is that they hardly will have a 2-5 game going (maybe 1 table), and sometimes they only have 3-4 tables of 1-2.

At least the times I've been there, Harrah's was much more crowded even though I preferred the Lumiere in terms of comfort, food and cleanliness.

There is not much difference in the 1-3 and the 2-5 games. Most of the 1-3 games play like 2-5 games with $15 opening bets when there is a lot of $$$ on the table. I've seen some tables with over $5000 on them instead of the normal $2000 - $3000. The level of play is not much different either......just more money to start with.

Anyone play with a guy named Constantine at Harrah's (always brings his own tobacco for a pipe)? He is a reg who I always see there, but never really played with him. Can't tell if he is solid player or not.

Maybe this is normally true, but with the BBJ at 290,000, the action is pretty good with lots of calling stations and nobody wanting to throw away a BBJ qualifying hand

Maybe I should give it another try. Would be nice to hit that $290K bad beat! Ever play on the weekdays during the day? Wondering how many tables they have going.

Did you have a good time in Tunica because the rooms were inexpensive, the meals were comped and all the drinks were free?

Have a good time in St Louis.

Well, yes that is one of the best parts that you WILL NOT FIND IN ST. LOUIS. But I was really referring to the crazy loose cash games and the amount of people and games being played. For instance....while waiting for the tourny to start, I sat in a 1-3NL game with $100 and cashed out for $1600 in 30 min. (I should have stayed and started the tourny late but didn't). I think I stacked one guy for $300 two hands in a row. Guy just kept re-buying, lose with TPTK or second nut and rebuy only to lose again on the next hand. I admit that I was running real good for the time I played, but these guys just would not fold.

The food/drink problem will not keep most people from coming but I agree that it sucks big time. Always nice to play with someone playing a little to loose while drinking.

Anyway, I hope to see you all there when it starts. It should still be fun, even without the free stuff.

Harrah's BBJ is around $300K. I think the last big jackpot was Lumière at around $250-275K. Has there ever been a jackpot in St. Louis over $300K? How about in Missouri?

was anyone at harrah's on saturday night to see the drunkard call someone (i think gary) a ********** and get thrown out.. pure hilarity right there, i guess he had been running his mouth at the table the entire night and something set him off. while walking over to the cage to cash out he stopped by a table and told the masseuse 'lemme get 20 seconds'. then, acting all badass-like he couldn't get his arm through his sleeve and said 'aw sheeit can't get my arm through' before talking to security for a while, eventually being escorted out

Glad to have a long weekend for some poker.......will be at Lumiere all day on Mon. since I don't have to work. Can't wait for the WSOP-C in April. It will be nice to be able to play for the whole event and not have to travel. More $$$ for poker instead of hotel room.

Harrah's has a 1/2/5 PLO game with like a $500 BI. Has some crazy sick action too. Saw a $3200 pot won by like 2 pair or something like that. Just so you know, it is pretty standard to have to put in 50-100 to be able to play PF because of all the raising that takes place. That play real fast

He made the mistake of showing his hand while another player was still in the hand, and decide to yell at the poor woman for about 15 minutes because she was covering her hand...I was not at the table, but the last thing you do is yell at someone for your own mistake. Especially when the woman looked as if she didn't play a lot of poker. I'm sure people who play Lumiere regularly know who I am talking about...he looks like the typical high school nerd, very pale, and wore a hat backwards that said "Ship It!!" on it. Essentially a huge loser who's only pleasure in life was pretending he's better than everyone at poker. I didn't play with him, don't know if he's any good...but he's a huge douche in life.

It annoys me that I know who that guy is, and I'm talking about him. But he is the quintessential Douche. He basically wears his little poker costume (Shades, Personalized poker sayings shirts/hats, etc). I think he shops at Aeropostale for Kids.

I play at Lumiere probably 3 times a week or so. Just the 1-3NL lately since they seemingly never run the 2-5. I used to play Harrah's 2-5, but haven't been to AStar in about 3 years for a few reasons.

Compared to when I used to play at Harrah's 2-5, it seems like the risk:reward is much better at Lumiere. I win about the same as I did at 2-5, but when I do have a bad night I'm losing 250-300 instead of 500-750.
And you can still take away decent money on a good night.

The thing I hate about the 1-3 compared to 2-5 though is the people who buy in for the $100. I can't play against short stack players, and they normally don't have any clue what they're doing. Yet I always double them up, which they dump off back to you or elsewhere on the table eventually.

I wish I had enough money to throw around to play the 5-10. Most of the players are the same ones who play 1-3 at Lumiere or used to play 2-5 at Harrahs.
Some really good players, others average with money to blow...

Are all/most of the poker rooms in St Louis non-smoking? I sure hope so, I can't stand cigarette smoke.
