Totally agree. Tim rocks. Most are very good. The female who calls everybody honey and sweetie and pays attention to everything but the game sux. Riff is a riot. And other than Brad, the dual-rates are mediocre dealers at best. The best are those that think they are always right, and incapable of being wrong. That just makes me laugh...

Oh yeah---Princess, Dave, Marvin, and Brandon also rate 5 stars.

You mean Jane. Agreed, she's miserable. And the older lady with the super short arms is also a PITA. But you forgot to praise Jim, Rick, and Vince, 3 super dealers...

All in all Denise does a damn good job of running a good room. If only they could forever get rid of that Brian character. Since he won the bad beat he considers himself Johnny Moss....easy, easy $$$ if you can put up with the whining.

Vince is a solid dealer, but when he is dealing the cards, his pitch to each player varies greatly. Sometimes it hits your chips, other times, it lands a foot in front. Nice dude though.

Re: St.Louis, MO Poker Thread

Hey everyone, I'm only 20 but I play a lot of online poker, up until recently obviously. My bankroll isn't that large, but when I do turn 21 I'll be playing live in St. Louis when I can. My question is wheres the best place to play some 1/2? What kind of roll would you suggest bringing? Any tips for playing the STL casinos or any live game for that matter. Thanks!

Play 1/3 at Lumiere. To answer a question from the previous page, yes, the 1/3 at Lumiere is an order of magnitude softer than the 1/2 at Harrah's.

As far as tips for live poker, you can find that all over the B&M forum. but if I was going to give you one tip, it would be: embrace the limp, even the open limp.

Re: St.Louis, MO Poker Thread

Protect your hand would be the biggest tip. I keep my hand on my cards in front of my chips in plan view where everyone else in the hand can see that I have cards, and I never let go of them unless it is to fold, to showdown, or when I bet and win the pot without showdown, I don't let go of them until the dealer has mucked the other players cards and is pushing me the pot.

1/3 at the Lumiere, sounds good. I've heard its a pretty nice place. I'm not much of a live player so it'll be an experience, I'm more online, how should I adjust. As to the protecting cards, what about a card protector? Or would I be viewed as a 'noob' or what not. Also, will player really profile me there? Like will they view me a hoodie wearing, ipod listening, douchebag kid? I don't wear hoodies or an ipod but you guys get the idea.

Re: St.Louis, MO Poker Thread

Also, what kind of roll should I bring for the 1/3? I'm new to all this, I've heard the x3 rule, so would it be 900? Just wondering, also any tournaments you think I should hit up in the STL area, lemme know. Thanks!

Re: St.Louis, MO Poker Thread

Card protectors aren't near as good as your hand holding onto the cards, there have been many stories of dealers accidentally mucking cards even when there was a card protector on them, your best best is to just keep your hand/fingers over them at all times. I don't play at lumiere cause I am too much of a nit to play 1/3, but the few times I have played there, there was good action, but I hate their card room. It is small, the tables suck, and it is very much open so you get all the smoke from the rails and all the noise from the slots right next too it. Harrahs room is much better as far as noise and smoke goes (they actually have that part of the casino smoke free, so I can walk into the casino without having to deal with any smoke which is a big plus for me cause I hate it.) And I haven't been to any other casinos besides those 2.

Re: St.Louis, MO Poker Thread

Yeah, I've heard Harrah's is a nice play too...What kind of roll would you suggest for the 1/2 at Harrah's? $600?

Re: St.Louis, MO Poker Thread

It all depends on your definition of roll, I think $600 is enough to pay with for 1 night, chances are if you lose all $600 you should probably quit because you will probably be playing badly after that. I usually bring 3 buyins for a night when I go and play. Overall though you should have more money available for next time if you do lose $600 the first night.

Unlikely to be any omaha. 3/6 is the only LHE game. 1/3 NL always runs. 2/5 NL depends. I haven't been on a Friday in awhile, but I think it usually? runs.

Re: St.Louis, MO Poker Thread

So there was a post on page 1 about the smokiness of each room but it was posted in 2009. Can someone update me on the smokiness of each room?
