OK, we have 4 in this thread that will play Ameristar. I can't make it this weekend, but am up for next weekend. This also gives us a few more days to work up interest. My vote would be 8-16.

It matters where you stay and how long a drive you'd be willing to make. Anywhere west of downtown is obv gonna be harrahs and ameristar, and i would def choose Ameristar to play 2/5 at. Lumiere has a great 1/3 game and it is right downtown. So like i said it really matters where u stay.

Good luck.

Heh, you don't have a choice of where you want to play 2/5 NL, it's only spread at Ameristar. I would recommend 1/3 NL at Lumiere if you like action though.

Last night around 1am at Harrah's there were no 3/6 limit games running, something I've never seen there. Only 3-4 tables of 1/2 NL.

Let's talk about our favorite dealers.

Keith at Harrah's - very fast and friendly, cool guy
Lisa at Harrah's - very fast too and hot
Darin at Lumiere - very very fast

Haven't played at Ameristar much so I don't have any favorite dealers there yet.

I'm in St. Louis from June 6-10.

Are there any decent tourneys?

I'll be at the Lumiere Tuesday and Wednesday night. Any idea what games will be available? I'd be looking to play 3/6 or 5/10 LHE or maybe 1/2 or 1/3 NL if there isn't a limit game going.

I also read something about a Dennis Phillips radio show on Tuesdays...what is that about?

Not sure if it is a regular game or not but was being spread last Friday day/night at Ameristar, 20/40 limit.

i can only assume u mean 20/40 fixed limit. i am talking about nl/plo mix. think it used to be 5/5 uncapped when it was at ameristar. anyway, if anyone has any info id appreciate it.

3/6 LHE and 1/3 NLHE run every day at Lumiere. Dennis does a radio show from the poker room (when he is in town) discussing anything poker with different guests each week.

First post! Haha.

Anyway, I'm surprised by some of the responses in here. To me, I have played many many places, and STL is the toughest to beat. I would think that the donk-to-good player ratio is very poor in comparison to Las Vegas, obviously, but also to numerous other places as well. I would rate Lumiere as the easiest but the drive is long for me.

Here is a page for Harrah's - it is the last place in STL I'd play a cash game now but it has the tournament schedule link.

Am I understanding correctly that there is no 5/10 PLO at harrahs anymore? I haven't been to St. Louis for 8-9 months but what has happened to harrahs?

The big games moved to nearby Ameristar. I don't know why, everyone has a theory. But even those are struggling a bit. Generally there will at least be 2/5. PLO sometimes goes sometimes doesn't. One theory I have heard is that the removal of the loss limit has crippled a lot of the worst players.

If you are only wanting to play PLO, I would call the Star before making the trek.

As far as Harrah's, unless you want to play a tourney or 1/3 NL or 3/6, do NOT go there.

Well I hate to see a reduction in traffic for the people that worked in that room but I don't regret Harrah's losing business. Anytime I played there it was made clear to me that poker was way down on their list of priorities.

Strangely enough I used to feel that this was a St. louis thing. It turns out I was mistaken; the staff at lumiere always went 100% out of their way to make me feel welcome.

My favorite STL poker story is from when I was at the President a couple of years back and two nines of diamonds came out on the flop. People were not happy. Ha. Anyway, I play mostly at Lumiere now. They spread 3/6 limit, 1/2 NL, and 2/5 NL last night.

I dont understand why people think lumiere's staff is so good. Maybe the dealers are OK but the management besides Craig completely blows. They have no ****ing idea what they r doing and they all give different answers on ruling. It almost seems like some of them don't even know/understand the basic rules of the game. They tilt me so ****ing hard by being completely incompetent that I become worse before i even sit down.

Is anybody going to head down to Lumiere this weekend for the Memorial Day weekend crowd? I have some non-poker-playing friends in town on Friday and Saturday, but I'm planning on donking it up on Sunday.

Ameristar has always been the premiere place to play poker in st.louis when poker gained popularity some games moved to harrahs but now most of the big games are back at ameristar .The dealers there are mostly all career minded indivuals and not newbies.Still no one has been able to produce a decent tournament at harrahs or ameristar unless you consider 20 min. blinds decent

LOL. In my opinion, Ameristar's dealers are a distant third behind Harrah's and Lumiere. I can think of 10-15 dealers from Harrah's and Lumiere that would be in the top three at Ameristar if they worked there.

Also, I didn't realize St. Louis had so many bad beat chasers. I was at Harrah's last Saturday night and it was the most crowded I have seen in a while. I heard from someone that traffic has been picking up now that they have the highest bad beat.

I also think the Lumiere dealers are the best. And while I also think their card room managers act very inexperienced at times, as said before, Craig is definitely a good guy.
