I was playing at the old Station St Charles boat and a guy confirmed part of this story. He had very bad eyesight and so would try to get help from the dealer or other players about what was on the board.

The bank robber had been helping this guy read the board cards. The guy said the bank robber was a real nice person and he was sorry to see the cops take him away.

So I was part of the STL poker scene in it's hay day. And there were (are) so many characters that I wonder if there still around. And anyone who played in STL will know these names....

Fireman Freddie
Leo
Last Card LLoyd
Bill Plumb
Ice Cream Doug
Carol
Gina

Just off the top of my head...so are they still regulars? (God, I could write a book!)

Leo is the only one I know and he still plays.

HI ALYDOM !!!

Ice Cream Doug is/was a regular in Tunica for the last few years. He was in Biloxi in January. I've played in the same game with him twice now - and he says I play way too tight.

I really miss Carol.

And hey ! I'll be in Las Vegas in late June. Can I get a comp?

I'm not sure which Leo you're talking about.
I know two:
#1. "Let him bet. He likes to bet... Good Boy!" "Let the milking begin!"
#2. No funny one liners. Just a normal guy (kinda short) that you can tell has been playing poker FOREVER.

They both play all the time.

Last Card Lloyd?? OH GOD!! They just let him back in at Harrahs a couple months ago. He's still 86'd at Ameristar. He is still absolutely NUTS and as loud as a police siren.

Leo - Old Guy, glasses, would rather play 7- stud. Crabby as hell....

I know, I know...I just described 90% of the players! lol

Funny story about Last Card Lloyd

They chased him around the Ameristar property about four years ago and he kept running from security and gaming... they found him hiding in one of the big trash cans on the casino floor. His head popped out of the top like a jack-ass-in-the-box!

Leo is not doing very good last time I saw him.

Fireman Freddie is still firing it up in a way only the fireman can!

Doc Mike is still around alot.., still taking his victory laps after he wins any size pot...

I have not seen Carol in many years.

The one person I miss even though we have went round and round throughout the years is Jenny Hamamura. She is probably playing Downtown.

Stella moved away from the area.

Omaha Bert is still around (actually almost all of the Omaha crowd is still around) T.D. Is still keeping everyone on their toes!

So many characters so little time!

Fireman Freddie plays regularly at Ameristar, he likes to hide how much he drinks by going to the bar and pouring his alcohol into a styrofoam coffee cup.....23 skidoo!

Heard the $245K bad beat hit at Lumiere on Sat night. Any regs get some of it?

Yeah, thats Leo #1. He still plays a couple times a week. Still crabby as ever. And unintentionally funny as hell. He has gotten too old to drive, so his son in law drops him off and picks him up. He's also getting to the point that he forgets things alot. Sometimes he leaves the table to eat and when he comes back he won't remember which table he was sitting at. One time he went to the buffett and didnt have any money but didn't realize it until after he ate. So security comes down to the poker room with him to get some money off the table to pay for his food. So he walks around to every table looking for his chips and never found them. He is adament that he left chips on a table so they go to the cameras. Turns out he had not even been playing yet that day. He had come in, got on the list, then went to eat. Apparently he had left his money (which he has more of than God) at home. Pretty sad.

Strangely, this story does not surprise me AT ALL. Lloyd is absolutely nuts. Jack-ass-in-the-box is the perfect discription.

Wait a minute, Last Card Lloyd is still alive?

I haven't seen him in several years and have heard many times he died. Hopefully these rumors are incorrect?

Yeah the rumors are incorrect. He was at Harrahs just last weekend. He's been back for a couple months now. Everyone had been hearing that he was dead, so when he came back someone asked him about it. He said it was his roommate who died and everyone thought it was him. He wasn't around to dispute the rumors because he was 86'd everywhere.

lmfao, thanks for the info!

I've played with that guy several times, and he was incredibly entertaining. He seemed to piss off 3/4 of the table, while the others like me would egg him on. I'd get heat from everyone else because I guess they thought I encouraged him lol.

Hopefully I'll play with him again, but I've pretty much given up on Harrah's so it might be difficult heh.

Time to head up to Harrah's to donk off some chips. I used to make that my home base but I will play a few sessions at Ameristar soon to see if I like it better.

You can't even get into the buffet without paying first.

I've been playing almost exclusively at Harrah's but I think it might be time to graduate to Ameristar. Some reasons are:

-1/3 NL instead of 1/2 at Harrah's
-More action, instead of all the nitty regulars at Harrah's
-Private room and free food if I want to play 2/5
-Less smokey at Ameristar even though the room isn't completely walled/glassed off like Harrah's

If I do play at Ameristar I will have to be able to handle Sharon dealing sometimes. I experienced her for the first time the other night. Holy ****, how did she ever get a job dealing?

All good reasons. And yes, Sharon = 2 hands per hour.

This happened a couple of years ago and in the old buffett (on non-busy days/hours) they wouldn't have anyone working the front registers and you would be taken to your table and the waitress would bring you a bill like most restaurants. Trust me, I ate there on hundreds of tuesday or thursday nights and I know this to be true. And on the night I was talking about with Leo, I saw him escorted into the room by security with my own eyes and saw them walking around to each table looking for his chips. I heard the discussion between security and the floor with my own ears. Take it for what its worth.

the 50$ 3000 chips tournies at amerstar on sundays what is the blind structure?
St.Louis, MO Quote

Not sure what the blind structure is but does Ameristar still have rebuy tournies?

Yeah, they still have re-buys. They also have a $5/10 NL game that runs on Sundays and Tuesdays.

So what's the consensus on the 2/5 NL game at Ameristar (formerly at Harrah's)? Soft or tough?
St.Louis, MO Quote

depends, what do you normally play? and your history?

Id say the 2-5 game at Ameristar is tough, but def not unbeatable.
