That's an interesting way to look at things. They offered tournaments and not enough showed up. They offered 95% payout and not enough players showed up. If players won't support it, do you expect Ameristar to keep trying?

The fines are at a state level, but the individual operator is responsible for their practices.

For the upcoming HPT event at Ameristar, is there an events center that the tourneys will be held in? If so, where is it relative to the casino and to the poker room?

Also, how is the PLO action during events like this (first time attending one of these tourneys).

Historically speaking PLO action at these tournaments is pretty good. Will have fairly high stakes games and probably some 1/2/5 also.

The tourneys are held on the second floor of the casino, right next to the new poker room.

How many runners does the monthly $300 mega stack get at Hollywood? May look to head out there tomorrow if it's worth it

20/40 limit w/half kill Wed/Fri, starts at noon, call in at 8 a.m.

5/10 NL, Tues/Thurs, starts at 1 p.m., call in at 11 (I think), $500-$3000

Both games at Ameristar

Working in StL for the next several weeks. My hotel is just a couple of miles from Lumiere Place. Hollywood is about 17 miles and Ameristar St. Charles about 18 miles. This is what shows up on Bravo. Thoughts? The A* definitely has more games and a variety of games, but of course it is the furthest from me.

Why not try both and see which you like better?

Guess he wouldn't need to post on a forum specifically designed for info about local games then?

If you are just looking to play cash, Lumiere should provide plenty of action. The games are pretty good most of the time. As you prob have seen they run 1/3NL and 2/5PLO pretty regularly.

I can't speak at all to the daily tourney's.

Anything special you are looking for?

Lumiere is the best for 1/3 NLH & the only place for PLO.

Hollywood is your best (& often only) choice for tournaments, otherwise it's a 1/2 NLH nitfest.

Ameristar is where you have to go if you want to play limit or anything above 1/3 NLH.

Bravo showing no 2/5 games in any of the 3 casinos on a Friday night. Is the games drying up that bad or our that many people at the WSOP?

I can't imagine that many people go to vegas?? I haven't been at the tables the last 2 weekends, so, I can't really judge.

It was just a few years ago that you'd have two tables of 3/6 limit going every morning at Hollywood. Was there the other day for the first time in a while and that game is officially dead. 1/2 NLHE is regulars only, the tourneys are still kicking pretty well.

I believe all those games just moved to Ameristar. Bravo is showing 3 going now.

Saw Denise left Ameristar. Hopefully the next manager that gets that job doesn't run the room into the ground.

Yes, ameristar has the morning (or any time of day) 3/6 limit action. The best days to go are Mondays and Thursdays because extra money gets loaded into the high hand bonuses.

Denise got a promotion and is now working at river city. Ameristar is still on the hunt for a new manager. Speculation is that the person will come from within.

Maybe they can get one of those old guys who's always complaining how the room is run.

If Penn gaming (Hollywood) and Pinnacle (Ameristar and RC) merge, would one the combined company have to sell one of these three properties?

Going to revive this thread, as I will be in stl for a week from 3/10 to 3/17, and am looking to find out what are my poker options. I already read this thread and noticed that four or five years ago the 1/3 at the lumiere was "full" of loose/drunk players. But then the past few years there have been few to no comments substantiating this.

Are the 1/3s lively anymore? Is that poker room still open? Just wondering if I should just avoid lumiere altogether and just go to Ameristar. Also, curious why this thread was active for so long, but no activity in the past four months. I guess everything that needs to be said about stl poker has been said already?
