Aside from Hialeah, are there any other nearby spots that are worth visiting.
Aside from being a pain in the ass to get there without a car from Miami Beach, you aren't going to find much, if any, 2/5NL at Hialeah. Conversely, Magic City in Miami has 2/5 running from the minute it opens every day at 10:00am. And equally as important for you, they operate a free shuttle that will take you to and from Miami Beach. Here are the details from their website:

Do you offer transportation to the casino?

We have a free hotel shuttle service that is available every day starting at 5pm, which services many local hotels. We also offer on-demand transportation service from Miami Beach hotels starting at 5pm for parties of 4 or more. Please call 786.443.8840 to coordinate your hotel pickups after 5pm. We also have a free shuttle that departs from 825 Washington Avenue and 1657 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach Thursdays through Sundays at both 2pm and 6pm, as well as 4101 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach Thursdays through Sundays at 4pm and 8pm. Transportation is always free of charge.

If you're still intent on going to Hialeah (which does spread numerous PLO games) but don't want to pay for the taxi/Uber fare, there is a cheaper alternative. The Metrobus L Route goes directly from South Beach all the way to Hialeah Park for $2.25. The upside is that it is cheap and you won't have to transfer to a different route/bus to get there. The significant downside is that it will take about an hour and a half to get there. Personally, I don't think it is worth the time or aggravation to take the bus to Hialeah, but I am throwing it out there to let you know that it is an option.

My wife talked me into driving her 42 miles up to Seminole Coconut Creek this afternoon because she received an "invitation" (whatever the hell that means) for a freeroll Bingo session. While she played Bingo, I played some 2/5NL in the poker room. Had to put my name on an interest list cuz there were no 2/5 games running at the time (~4:00pm).

I was surprised to learn that Coconut Creek spreads both 1/2NL and 1/3NL in addition to 2/5. I don't think I've ever been in a room in either Las Vegas or SoFla that spread both games. I don't even know what the purpose of doing so is. Can anyone enlighten me on that? Also, just out of curiosity, does anyone know of any other rooms that spread both 1/2 and 1/3?

Silks poker room at Tampa Bay Downs spreads 1/2, 1/3 and 2/5, but the 1/3 has a $500 max buy-in. They can fill a 1/3 table a lot faster than a 2/5, so the 2/5 players sit at 1/3 until there are enough players on the waiting list to open the 2/5 without breaking the 1/3.

Im a 2-5 player at creek, this summer its been harder to get a game going. They are running a promotion for full houses based on the buy in so 1-2 players moved up to 1-3

Thanks for the info about Tampa Downs and Coconut Creek. That's interesting about them having difficulty getting a 2/5 started (and frankly I was surprised when I showed up at Creek at 4pm on a Sunday that one wasn't running). I guess that I'm lucky to have a room within 4 miles of my house that has at least one table running at all times. I arrived at Magic City yesterday morning at 10:05am (they open at 10:00) and only had to wait 5 minutes for a 2/5 table to open. And there was a second one running before noon as well.

I've seen 1/2 and 1/3 in the same room at Mandalay Bay and some SoCal poker rooms. Usually bigger buy in caps for the 1/3

Anyone know of a good healthy food delivery service in SoFla (particularly Miami) similar to All American Dave's during WSOP in Vegas?

Recently moved to South Fla from LV. I generally play 1-3 NL and noticed that no casinos offer that around here. I have played 2/5 NL at hialeah, mardi gras, and hard rock. Why are the buy-ins different? Seems odd. I was lucky enough to win a HH for $500 last Saturday at hialeah. I did not really like how loud the poker room was though. Horse players were very annoying. Mardi Gras didnt make me feel to safe. I prefer Hard Rock but I prefer the higher buy-in.

If you want a quality poker room, play at the Isle in Pompano Beach. Max buy in for $2/$5 is $500 but everything else from dealers, to ambiance, to floor people, to table selection ect is better at the Isle.

Just to add on to the responses about the last few posts regarding the 1/2 and 1/3 games.

Before 2010 the rooms in FL were limited by law to a $100 max buy in for all cash games. When the law changed the regs didn't want to have to buy in for $300 or to adjust to playing a real 1/2 or 1/3 game so most rooms just ran a 1/2 so that the regs could continue to buy in with $100 and not get pushed around too much. Its crazy that its been over six years now but that kind of explains a lot. Its also why most 2/5 games have a $500 cap, some had a $100 min (?!!?) for a long time, and they generally play smaller than those you would find in other areas of the country.

I often wonder why a struggling room in SF doesn't try to differentiate itself more by not offering the 1/2 game and having deeper games only. 1/3 $200-$600 and 2/5 $500 min, no max type deal. It would be interesting to see if it changed anything.

That's not completely true. Seminole Coconut Creek offers 1/3. In fact, they spread both 1/2 and 1/3 there, as well as 2/5.

When you lived in Vegas, did it seem odd to you that Bellagio and Caesars Palace had different buy-ins for 2/5?

Hi people.

I'm after some information and advice. I've never posted in this thread so I’ll introduce myself. I’m 36 from England, U.K. I’ve played poker professionally for 11 years now with the latter 5 years being a live pro. I’ve played thousands of hours of live £1/£2 but only 600 hours I’d estimate of stakes ranging from £1/£2/£4, £2/£5, £2/£5/£10, E5/E5, E3/E6 and E5/E10(E/Euro).
I enjoy socializing away from the tables, fitness and eating well. Most of my hobbies would be sports, although I don’t mind getting hustled at pool for a few bucks whilst drunk.
I’ve reached a point in my life where I’m not that happy just grinding £1/£2. My roll enables me to comfortably play £2/£5 and shot takes at £5/£10. The problem is there are not that many places to choose from in the U.K other than London. As part of my goals this year(which I’m failing), I said I would research bigger games and potentially relocate once I found sustainable higher stakes games if I can show a worthwhile hourly in these games over a good sample size. I intend to plan a trip for 1-3 months dependent of how the sessions go. I’d like to play a minimum of 100 hours a month but maybe 150-200 hours a month if I get my head down and get super motivated.

On my list to research are:

Las Vegas
London
California
Macau
Miami

I would really appreciate Miami $2/$5 & $5/$10 regulars input and advice of the following questions I have regarding:

Best $2/$5 Locations(rake, times games run how many tables at peak times, best days etc)
Best $5/$10 Locations(rake, times games run how many tables at peak times, best days etc)
Best casino reward schemes(play points, free food & drink, monthly leader board for cash hours grinded etc)
Best area to rent Apartment/house share or whatever for under $700 a month(so far I saw a place a little closer than Brownsville for $440 which was a private room in 4 bedroom house) and distance and time to travel to and from casinos.
Best method of transportation in terms of cost/time commuting to and from casinos. I heard taxi’s are super expensive so perhaps rent a car/bike or use night buses or other transportation?
Best places to eat, drink, party.
Best Gyms, costs locations.
Best local activities to enjoywater sports etc
Best attractions never been to U.S so Miami could be a mind blower, not sure what to expect?
Advice on any local culture or laws I should be aware of? I plan to enjoy life a little bit, party, sightsee but mostly grind poker for 1-3 months.

As you can imagine it will be lonely away from home for so long so I’d love to meet other players to talk poker with and give me advice on anything Miami! I’m not sure if any other UK grinders will venture out with me, so I’d obviously be up for meeting other players. I’m also open to options regarding rentals/ house shares if there was an option that benefited both parties whether you have a vacant spare room or an unoccupied property or vacant room.

Thanks in advance

Whole Foods Market in Palm Beach Gardens has a great variety of fantastic food. It's about as casual as you can get.

Their coffee/smoothee cafe is also exceptional.

And if you want a beer there's a craft beer bar in the same plaza.

As someone who has been around for presumably a long time, I am both shocked and appalled at this post.

Do you really expect us to lay out where the best games are and best times to play? I mean c'mon. Its posts like this that are killing the games.

My advice would for everyone in this thread and anyone that cares about their longetivity in poker, to never answer a post like the one above.

We all had to do the work and scout the games ourselves! Theres no reason for us to spoon feed anything to you.

If you have a great game- keep that info to yourself! If you post about it on 2p2, a mass influx of good players will come to your games- which means your win rate will go down- which means less money overall to be made.

Think guys!!!! And gl PartyScout in South Florida.

Ken: First, let me be clear in that when I travel the USA, both on the job and for pleasure, every Interstate, almost every state in the last seven years, I use tripadvisor extensively in finding exactly what locals think about restaurants, and to a greater extent, what seasoned travelers think about lodging.

I'm not really sorry that I use this tool, and I've found in various formats online that alot of people I've corresponded with over the years find it helpful as well.

Also sorry that I was away in Reno this weekend, and am just logging on again after a nice getaway with my wife and family.

But the real reason for my response now, is to let you know, Mr. Snowflake, just how bratish and repugnant you sound and come off. A complete newbie with a grand total of 11 f*cking posts wants to flame two rather decent responses to his easily obtain inquiries about driving up I-95. You sir, are a douchebag.
